Great changes to the league structure. WL and pros will be seriously competetive. People will be forced to actually play the game again to stay "at the top".

Yeah, I can see why some are going to be butthurt about losing their "earned" right to coast through WL with zero cares.

It greatly pains me to agree with JD but I think this is a very good idea and the most fair way to do it.

However, the question then becomes what happens if those four teams are all the same (meaning one of the four made the CCG?) I guess in that case #5 gets to stay too, or maybe the best playoff finisher from the remaining lot?

wouldve produced same results as top 5 records per conference this season but does protect against the lower seeds going on run

I like the changes people been asking if GLB was still on Bort's radar. Well here ya go!! Not everyone is ever gonna be happy. But at least there is effort going into this thing. Some effort is better than no effort is all. Just holding out hope GLB2 one day folds and we one day return to what we once had here

Yeah, that makes zero sense. So if a #8 seed goes on a run and wins it all, they still get demoted? Or does the #1 seed who dominated the regular season but lost in the first round get demoted instead?

Hopefully he means playoff progress, not league game ranking..

Yeah it shows that if change is needed change will be made. Hopefully he's working on another surprise, but i can't expect too much.

True. It was a bit shocking at first, but this should make the leagues better. Playing conference opponents twice will be interesting.

teh model works great season 48 and beyond...8 WL teams make the playoffs, and 8 stay in. Easy.

So this is just an issue with who stays in for S47? Yeah, it's unfortunate, but there are enough folding teams every season that I don't think ti will be a big huge deal (for example, Mice will hopefully be a playoff team again next year, but are folding after the season). So hopefully much of this will work tiself out.

That said, there's been some good ideas so far how to do it in this thread. I just don't think a one-time forced demotion of some WL playoff teams is *that* big of a negative.

I agree, good for rivalries.

In theory more active rivalries and competitive games? Yes

Going to revive this game? Nope

Writing on the wall? Yes

Bort actually gives a crap about this game? Nope

You are going to have more fringe teams that really can't compete give up because now there are more games they aren't going to win and thus quit... Resulting in more CPU teams with this model and thus making smaller leagues or just shutting down.
