Liberals, hah. They believe man kind can all work together in a Xanadu, all of us contributing to the well being of everyone. If it were possible, they would be correct in all their desires.

Right wing, like the Founding Fathers, they don't think people can think straight, so they will force them to think correctly.

Libertarians, Like the Liberals, they live in a fantasy where we don't need rules and nobody will victimize others.

Which is why balance of ideals creates more progress than when any single ideal controls.

Eb and flo is probably a bit better than balanced stagnation. Like a car in a skid... over-correcting is worse than doing nothing... but both lead to crashes. A calm and gentle hand on the wheel knows a touch of turn brings it back into line. But, also, too much of any thing is simply too much... Too much liberalism is not good... too much conservatism is just as bad... too much government is not good... not enough is just as bad. Idiots liberals think the Republicans want a tiny little government and no taxes... plumb stupid. Idiot conservatives think the democrats want a giant government with tons of taxes... also just as stupid. I have plenty of smart republican friends... and democrat friends.. that know the path has, and needs, both ideals to work together. I also know plenty of 'less-than-intelligent' (when it comes to politics, anyways) people... some family... that are so single minded to one ideal, they'd wreck the car if they were driving. Good thing there's enough 'intelligent political minds' out there to keep the country somewhat stable... although, lately, I'm worried there's more dummies than smarties.

i'm just wondering what happens when ideal balance is the single ideal that controls.

but yes, you're speaking like a moderate -- which is a reference to the speed/degree of desired change. revolutionaries want to overthrow, radicals want to change at the root (i.e. radix), conservatives want to change slowly, reactionaries want to reverse the change, etc. problem is, most people characterize themselves as moderate, so it's a tough category to pin down. similarly, most people think they're above average, so...
