As has already been mentioned, we have a few great match ups this week. Lets get to it!
**DISCLAIMER** I have had several alcoholic beverages tonight, and part or all of my write up may reflect this fact.
Week 7 GOTW (#1): Oregon Ducks @ Ljungskile Mini Wolves
Oregon is off to a great start at 5-1, which was absolutely expected. Three games ago they lost their only game of the season to the Thundercats in a very close 13-7 game. However, since that game they haven't looked like the Ducks team that I'm used to seeing. They scraped by a 3-3 Legacy's Legion team by 3 points, and they also beat the 1-5 Chopin Broccoli team by less then a TD. Were those games close because there was zero Duck cares, or is something else going on there?
Meanwhile, the Wolves are 6-0, and taking care of business. They've handled all comers with relative ease, as their closest game was a 20 point win over the Jackals. Last season, the Ducks beat the Wolves 10-3 in the tournament championship game. I'm sure that loss still sticks in the Wolves' paws like a sliver. I think this game, the Wolves come out for blood. I'll take the Wolves by 13
Week 7 GOTW (#2): Long Island Sound @ Annapolis Bayhawks A.D.D.
I expected Long Island to be a decent team this season, but they've looked better then that so far. They come into this game at 4-2, but played Holland really tough last week, in a 6-0 loss. They also stomped a mud hole in Choppin earlier, beating them by 41.
Speaking of stomping a mud hole, that exactly what Annapolis has been doing to everyone this season, with the exception of a 6-3 win over Holland a few games back. their average margin of victory this season is 151 points. They like to pass, and are heavily invested in the return game with something like 26 centers on the team (I might be exaggerating a tiny bit).
If Long Island wants to win this one, they're going to have to figure out a way to stop Annapolis's passing attack, and defend the punt/kick returns. Easy to say, but tough to do as Annapolis is currently riding an 18 game winning streak. In the end, I think Annapolis is just too tough to stop, and they should win this one fairly easily. Gimme the Bayhawks by 35.
Week 7 GOTW (#3): Johannesburg Jackals @ Holland Pinoy All Stars
I think we played each other about a dozen times this off season. We know each other well enough, that there won't be any surprises. I think the winner of this game has a great shot at a home playoff game, while the other probably won't. Good luck guys!
