I am becoming very frustrated with this game. I have a half-way decent team with a fully built stadium, and I've had a few players come along to be a part of the team along the way, but every single season I have the same problems recruiting dots.

It's depressing as hell to log in and find another 27 contract rejections and maybe one subpar kicker accepted, but that's how it has been for my team lately.

I've tried PMing the players who have plenty of dots, they just ignore me. I've spent countless hours messaging each recruit's agent to literally beg for them to sign... still nothing. And this season it seems there are fewer dots on the market... so what gives? Is the game dying? Has everyone settled in on a team and there's just no mobility happening?

Any ideas on what I can do to gain a few active players who have the dots to help build a better team?

This. Or make friends.

In lieu of flex or people skills, send honest, personal PM's (humor works better than begging) with your plan for their dot and open your forum. If they have plenty of dots, it's usually likely they are committed elsewhere or trying to keep them together.

Try to find agents with 2-4 dots at need positions and work hard on them. Using the search command, make sure you are searching for:

1) Show only free agents and Only show active players (agent has logged in during the last 3 days)
OR
2) Show only players on CPU owned teams and Only show active players (agent has logged in during the last 3 days)

You need to have credibility to recruit. To have already proven you are a solid owner/coordinator/dot builder. That is really all it comes down to. Once you have that, then you can focus on other tactics.

Do you own a time machine? Best way would be to go back about 2 years, plenty to choose from then.

You have a good roster for the Arena leagues. I understand your pain, about 4 seasons ago I struggled after coming back from a long vacation. Fertilize your grass is all I can say.

Nah, just be visible in the forums. I've almost effortlessly put together two rookie rosters this offseason. People see a name they recognize and sign.

Post more.

I guess that works too, but less so among plateau teams where players are nearing the end of their career and have greater expectations. Unless it is a friend or someone I work with frequently/someone who has given me dots in the past, I sign with the most accomplished agent or retire any leftovers. I think that is what most people do.

Those two are true. I try to be un-biased but usually prefer to sign with people I know or have heard of.

If possible, try getting a couple agents in on a re-start next season. Build a good base and make the team fun so they stay

A couple things.

1. Your team is fucked right now. 33 players on day 47 = fucked. Sign anything you can find, and only desperate people are still looking for teams at this point.

2. Honest PMs about what you envision. If you can highlight active coordinators and your own activity in the team forum that is your best bet. Convincing people they will have fun on your team is the key to getting them to sign, and them actually having fun is the key for them to stay. If you have afk coordinators, a dead forum, and half a roster, why *should* anyone want to join your team? Cuz your a swell guy? HA!

3. Don't beg people. I get PM's of people begging me to help their teams and feel sorry for them, which makes me go to zero cares very quickly.

4. Any dot that doesn't choose your team, say nothing or wish them the best of luck.

5. Plateau rosters living on free agency is DEAD. I am the poster child for an independent team doing PLFT recruiting, but that time is dead if you want quality dots. To survive you need to either join a network (any worthwhile aren't looking for more teams honestly with the dotball shortages at-is) or start making farm teams every 3-5 seasons to fill the majority of your free agency needs.

Also Natty pro has become such a shithole, many people with dots are in "wl or retire" mode, which doesn't help your case since you don't even get a chance at those dots.

No one cares about PMs. I stopped bothering with PMs many seasons ago when I realized the I had a higher success rate just posting an ad and allowing people to come to me.

4. Any dot that doesn't choose your team, say nothing or wish them the best of luck. I tell them to go fuck themselves. Actually had several people change their mind and sign with us afterward.
