http://www.similarweb.com/website/glb.warriorgeneral.com - 220K monthly visits as of Dec 2014, around 200K for the last few months

http://www.similarweb.com/website/glb2.warriorgeneral.com - 150K monthly visits as of Dec 2014, around that for the last few months

http://www.similarweb.com/website/mb.warriorgeneral.com - 3K monthly visits (big pop in November when it started at nearly 35K visits)

Before free Alexa statistics covering several years were locked down by Amazon, the old GLB website was regularly in the top 100K sites globally right around the time it came out of beta, which seemed pretty good for a single browser simulation game.

All this from a game with no advertising or popups, which I still appreciate. Would we be willing to have ads on the site to pay for the servers and coders to make updates or market to more users?

lol GLB classic still wins.

Could one buy the thing and then hit the reset button like Rusty suggested a few weeks back?

I'd throw in on that deal

i see no point if there isnt some kind of reset. use glb as the basis for a new game. make it easier for new people to jump in without building a player for a year only to find out that they didnt know what they were doing.

I think GLB2 proves a reset would be a failure.

I give tons of credit to the developers for building a great game in GLB classic and finding the right balance between strategic player building and game tactics and community forums. Honestly I can't really explain it, but it was better than just a typical football video game (which GLB2 seems like) and had some steam to become something bigger than it was. That momentum could only last so long with management doing nothing in terms of bringing in new users and then eventually giving up on customer service. Its actually quite baffling that the developers spent so long in Beta developing the game and then just trashed it for GLB2, which doesn't have the things that made GLB classic great.

If GLB Classic was sold on it's own, you definitely aren't going to get our database as it is tied to all the other games. At best you'd get the code for GLB Classic and do your own thing with it.

Yea, the ties to GLB2 seems like it would make a purchase unlikely. I was just wondering if somebody new took over the business end, could things have been drastically different?

I doubt it.

The biggest difference maker would have been expanding to Facebook before Facebook ran web games into the ground, but then...Zynga.

Maybe Warrior General could go public and then shareholders could elect new management.

I know you have all the info so you're in a much better position to have a better view of the business. But if this game is never going to make any money, why not sell it? If the general thinking among your team is that nothing could have been done different, then just sell it.

Facebook is probably a good idea to put the game on at least brawlers

As fun as the hypothetical discussion was, I think it may be giving you the wrong impression.

GLB Classic isn't up for sale.
