Pacific Pro Week 2 Showcase: Conference Opening Week
Southeast Asia Conference
Malaysian Madness @ Colonial Marines
Truth be told I view both of these teams as a pair of the ‘weaker’ SEA teams well…compared to the teams that are guaranteed to make it to the playoff in this particular conference. CM lost in week 1 in a blowout to BCBC whereas MM won in a blowout vs. a CPU team; I expect this to be a defensive struggle with the less weak team coming out with a victory.
Prediction: Malaysian Madness 14-13
Springfield Isotopes @ Arkadak Deadliest Warrior
Both of these teams are somewhat of a mystery to me at this point; as I said in the S44 Preview, ADW has some proving to do at this level but I feel like the Isotopes do as well and week 1 did nothing to prove anything in the first week of play. I’ll look forward to being able to give some real analysis on both of these teams in week 3 but for now, let me just say this; I have a feeling we’re going to see a shootout.
Prediction: Arkadak Deadliest Warriors 35-28
Fried Rice Showcase Game of the Week!
The Dead Presidents @ Halifax Harpoons
Halifax has proven their ability to throw the football in the past, they’ve also had a very good rushing attack, however they’ve been plagued by missed tackles. Halifax is going up against the team that has proven to have the best ability to run the football, if that trend continues Halifax could be in for a long night. I said this previously, Halifax has a lot to prove at this level, especially after a blowout loss in week 1 to CCFM, they’ll get their chance to do so in Week 2 against DP.
Prediction: Dead Presidents 35-13
Oceania Conference
***Official*** Footballguys @ OffTopica Immortals
Like so many of the teams new to Pacific Pro, both of these teams have some question marks about who they truly are and just how talented they really are. OffTopica is a network of teams that general plays their opponents very close to the vest. If the staff for OFG is any indication, they too could be a very good team. As I’ve said previously about other games, with a better indication of who each team is in Week 3, the analysis will improve, until then, I’m throwing my best spiral as far as I can.
Prediction: OFG 17-14
Kosovo Kryptonite @ Oregon Ducks
This could be a pretty good game or it could be a blowout; Oregon is one of a handful of teams to move to Pacific Pro with a losing record as I’ve mentioned in previous threads. Kosovo’s biggest challenge is going to be proving they can be efficient defensively; last season they had a lot of missed tackles, something this league has seen a lot of and it’s an area they must improve. For Oregon, this really is a matter of proving they aren’t completely outmatched.
Prediction: Kosovo Kryptonite 55-10
”Hardcore” Williamsport Soul Reavers @ Forsyth County War Dawgs
FCWD was not included Preseason Preview by CJR due to their late entry to the league, they have literally said they hoped to prove me wrong about them; I genuinely think that FCWD has a chance to be really good this season, we’re not overlooking them that I assure you; they had a rough first game against the Dead Presidents in which they got blown out, I genuinely don’t believe that is indicative of who they are truly. WSR is battling chemistry due to more major changes to their roster in the offseason so that is an advantage Forsyth will have. This game should be very interesting, and I do believe we’ll see statements made in this game as well.
Prediction: FCWD 24-21
Christchurch Fighting Maori @ OffTopica Miracle
Both of these teams won in blowout fashion in Week 1; however one by more points than the other. Believe it or not, I think that could be telling about what to expect in the results of this game. OTM is a very good team imo, as is CCFM even if they both underrate themselves at times. However, in this game, I just have a feeling, based on what I’ve seen from previous OT teams, that the advantage lies on the road and unfortunately for them, they are not the road team. I’ve been wrong plenty of times before so maybe I am here but I think this is going to be a very low scoring matchup with a final FG clinching it, one of the biggest factors to that prediction is that I think they both have strong, underrated defenses.
Prediction: Christchurch Fighting Maori 13-10
Outback Showcase Game of the Week!
Stockholm Black Death @ $in City $yndicate
This is one of the games I’m most interested to see, truly. Many of us already know what $C$ offers though they hope to have an improved team with SEO aboard. What I think most people will be looking at is how SBD performs, I’m calling their bluff; I am prepared to eat crow if need be but right now, I’m not convinced they’ll triumph at this level. They literally faced no one last season, not a single competitive game in S43, they got a free pass to Pacific Pro so the question is, are they really that good or was their previous schedule just that easy? This game is going to be a statement one way or another, by both teams.
Prediction: $in City $yndicate 21-20
