Pacific Pro Week 1 Inter conference Showdown!
Guaranteed Week 1 Wins:
***Official*** Footballguys over “Hardcore” Rejects
Kosovo Kryptonite over Orlando Praying Mantis
Offtopica Immortals over Addicts Relapse
Sumatra Seahawks over D-Town Demolition
Arkadak Deadliest Warriors over The ~Cult~ure of Revolutionary Minutemen
Springfield Isotopes over CPU (Buy Team)
$in City $yndicate over LUX Borg
Williamsport Soul Reavers over Quebec War Eagles
Malaysian Madness over Semarang Red Bulls
Oregon Ducks over Heroes of Olympus
If you are a losing team on the above list; this will be the only time this season you are included in one of my write-ups, enjoy
These two matchups I’m going to talk about next are teams that I think could range from slightly above average (middle of the road) to very good (3/4 of them anyway).
Halifax Harpoons @ Chrischurch Fighting Maori
If you paid any attention to my previous article, you’ll know that the Harpoons like to pass the ball, A LOT! But the real question is are they going to be able to do that at this level? More so, is their defense going to be able to stop it? One of their biggest weaknesses in this game might actually be their ability to get after the opposing Quarterback. If Lionel Gupper’s talent is any indication, they are going to lack a lot of speed and strength in that front seven. More so, their tackling ability is going to leave a lot to be desired. Many of us at this level learned last season not to overlook certain advantages as missed tackles can lead to a huge disadvantage. Maori runs a fairly balanced offense and based on what I can see, they are much more capable team defensively.
Prediction: Christchurch Fighting Maori 45-17
Colonial Marines @ Bow Chicka Brown Cow
I want to tell you that the Marines are much more complete team now than they were last season, however that would be a lie. With 10 CPU players on their roster, that is simply not true. They do have some solid players however, over the course of the season I just don’t see them beating too many competitive teams, they could’ve ended up on the ‘guaranteed win’ list in the loser column. Bow Chicka Brown Cow was pretty good last season and I expect them to take a leap toward being better this season. This game though, it won’t be very competitive.
Prediction: 65-13
OffTopica Miracle @ OffTopica Word
What are the chances these two teams get matched up against each other in week 1? (3.125% actually)
Both of these teams should be pretty good as they have very good coaching staffs and quality players; I expect them both to be playoff teams.
Prediction: I GUARANTEE Offtopica wins this game! I’m thinking 21-20
Now, the next three games are games where I think the results will really illustrate how the Top of the league is going to be comprised throughout the season. They are “what we’re made of” type of games.
The Cult of Personalities, Wu! @ Stockholm Black Death
CPW is a team that managed just one victory in World League but hey, I’m not going to knock them too hard for that, they made it there! Led by Kaiser Von Powderhorn, who in S42 (In Pacific Pro) ran roughshod over their competition, is back for some more. Don’t be surprised if he eclipses 100 TDs this season. They’ve also got a very good defense, especially upfront which should serve them well against the running game this season. Stockholm is a team I’m very unfamiliar with, statistically they stream rolled all of the CPU level competition they played in Regional Pro last season, but Cult…they’re not CPU level. This really is going to be a game where Stockholm will get an opportunity to show who they are as a team. Either they’ll stand tall and conquer the might beast that is CPW or they will falter beneath the ashes and get left behind.
Prediction: 21-17 CPW
Forsyth County War Dogs @ The Dead Presidents
Bottom line, we already know that Dead Presidents is going to run the football 99.999% of the time and we already know that the only thing that matters in this game is whether or not Forsyth can stop the rushing attack of DP. Honestly, I don’t know if they can, I don’t really know what this team is made of, but they’ll get a chance to show everyone in a big week 1 matchup.
Prediction: Dead Presidents 35-14
The last of the three games I mentioned might just be the heart stopper of the week; featuring, unquestionably, two of the best teams in the Pacific Pro, returning from last season.
Razorback Nation @ Palembang Royally Drunken Monks
If you have any doubts that Razorback is the best team in this conference then you haven’t been paying much attention at all. Both offensively and defensively, this team is probably Oceania’s worst nightmare, but this game, in all seriousness, could play a big factor in the final playoff seeding if a few teams can pull a miraculous upset or two against some teams within the conference. Palembang, the returning #3 seed from last season, eliminated in R2 of the playoffs, like Razorback, could also be the best team in their conference, its’ still a bit of a toss-up between them and Dead and well…now CPW as well. Bottom line in this game, both of these teams are so good that they’re going to have to fight to the finish and play mistake free football. Any turnovers for either team could play major dividends in the outcome.
Prediction: Razorback Nation 24-21
I hope you enjoyed this article, there will be more to come after Week 1 of the Regular Season!
