Pacific Pro Playoffs Preview: Round 3

First of all, before I get to the write-up, I want to send out a couple of special shout-outs; Congratulations on an excellent season L.A.; you guys fought hard and did very well, I know it didn’t end how you would have liked it to, but you can certainly stand tall and hold your heads up high, you were a fierce competitor to the end.
D.I.G. congrats on the World League bid; I don’t want to make it sound like there are other teams that ‘don’t deserve it’ but if there is any team that deserves that spot light, it’s DIG this season; they didn’t start out very impressive, my write-ups reflected that, but they did what they needed to do and came back in the second half of the season swinging. They might have backed themselves into a corner but they never gave up and they climbed back up from the ashes to get to this point. I hope you guys do great up in World League, you earned it!

Southeast Asia Conference

OFOTD @ Carthage Clash
OFOTD just shocked everyone with a win over Dead; Dead made a clear attempt to mix it up and frankly, it failed miserably. OFOTD shut down Dead’s entire offense on the way to a rout. Likewise, Carthage Clash came out swinging like they were about to take on Merriweather in a 12 round bout, trouble is, PRDM looked more like an aging Mike Tyson and they didn’t get passed round 4. PRDM threw 4 interceptions in that game. Needless to say OFOTD has to take care of the football in this game or they don’t stand a chance. Carthage just needs to keep doing what they’ve been doing, they seem to be firing on all cylinders, OFOTD is going to have to find a way to slow down that offense like they did against Dead.

Prediction: Carthage Clash 24-21

Oceania Conference

Dirty Island Gurupies @ Dallas Paladins

What the …. Whatever came out against Dallas throwing the ball like it was a hot lava cannon, they threw for over 300 yards and 2 TDs, the problem is they also threw an interception which was matched by a fumble and a very poor rushing attack. Dallas was able to limit their turnovers to 1 and capitalize on those they got back. In the end it was a modest upset but never the less. For DIG, I’m not real sure if anyone is surprised here, but then, I don’t think anyone would’ve been surprised if LA won. The one that I think was surprising is that it wasn’t much closer. In the passing game, DIG is actually the team that committed the turnover, both teams had a fumble, neither lost, but ultimately, only DIG had a solid rushing attack and that may have been the nail that shut the coffin. Moving forward, both of these teams have got to limit the turnovers and both of them have got to get their rushing attack going. They both have a very physical and talented defense so this should be a very defensive matchup.

Prediction: DIG 17-14
