Pacific Pro Week 13 Preview: Playoff Picture: Episode II

Southeast Asia Conference
Once again this week, there’s not really a game worth highlighting. Carthage Clash took down PRDM last week to likely secure the #2 seed in SEA. DP, Carthage, PRDM, & OFOTD, as I stated last week, are in.

Yo Mama is on thin ice right now, standing at 8-4 with a matchup against DP this week (which will likely be a loss) and the 1%ers next week. The reality is that Yo Mama, 1%ers, & Addicts are all in danger of being bumped out in favor of Krakatoa or Bama except that Krakatoa likely has at least 2 more losses on their schedule, to DP & PRDM. Alabama has likely one more against Carthage Clash, which means that they probably won’t get the opportunity to take a playoff spot from the 1%ers. In reality, the Top 8 in SEA is likely the playoff teams for that conference.

Oceania Conference

Games that won’t be highlighted:

$C$ is getting a free pass to an 11-2 record this week against Amsterdam to maintain the #2 seed. The Legends will be playing a meaningless game vs. KC. Dallas will likely also get a free pass against OTM this week who has been completely eliminated from the playoffs and likely, from the league. Dallas will maintain their Top 4 seed this week moving to 10-3.

Razorback Nation should win this week as well against the already eliminated Huntington Beach. RN will maintain their Top 5 status and depending on what happens at the top, could find themselves sneaking into a home field advantage scenario.

L.A. Resistencia @ Bow Chicka Brown Cow

This game means a whole lot for a whole lot of people. With a win in this game and a win for WSR this week, there is a real good chance that the Top 8 teams in this conference are your playoff teams. The only thing from that point on that is likely to change, is playoff seeding. LA is coming off of a two-game losing streak, They really need to bounce back here because with a game against Dallas yet, they are actually in danger of losing their home field advantage, which could only happen if they finish with a lesser record than either WSR or tied record with DIG (who holds the head to head tie breaker). BCBC is on the outside looking in right now, if they were to win out, they would likely make the playoffs as it would mean that they likely eliminated Newfoundland & WSR from contention, with a loss in this game, they absolutely need to win out and need WSR to finish with a tying record in order to squeeze into the playoffs.

Prediction: LA 24-17

Newfoundland Roughnecks @ Whatever

Unfortunately for Newfoundland, this is probably their elimination game, though they could have an outside chance if a ton of teams lose and they beat win out after this game. Reality is however that Whatever remains undefeated and there’s really no reason to think that changes this week. NR will likely be one of the better teams in this league in S44, but they just don’t match up with Whatever right now.

Prediction: Whatever 75-3

Sumatra Seahawks @ Asmara Freedom Fighters

The pressure is on for Asmara, they cannot afford to lose any more games because doing so likely means playoff elimination. However, for Sumatra, a loss here could also put them on the outside looking in. The playoff implications in this game are not slight. Asmara has made their success in the passing game more than anything else this season and ironically, Sumatra has had a ton of success securing interceptions. Sumatra too has had the majority of their success in the passing game however, that passing game has also accounted for 23 thrown interceptions. So ultimately in this game the question has to be asked, which team will throw the least amount of interceptions to win this game?

Prediction: Sumatra 17-14

Outback Game of the Week

Williamsport Soul Reavers @ Dirty Island Gurupies

Sitting at the #6 seed, WSR has to find a way to win this game to ensure a playoff spot, that doesn’t mean it would secure it, but the cards would be in their favor. Likewise for DIG, the winner of this game is going to be sitting at #6 and the loser may drop to #8, depending on what happens with Sumatra. DIG has run a very efficient, balanced offense for most of the season, which may help them in this game against a defense that has struggled with missed tackles and hasn’t exactly been efficient offensively. The pressure is on in this one for WSR, it has the biggest playoff implications of any game this week. In reality, DIG could be under pressure but it would take one heck of an occurrence, as Asmara would have to beat Sumatra, $in City, Amsterdam, & KC to win out, DIG (if they lost this game) would have to win out or Sumatra would have to win out (DIG & Sumatra play each other in Week 15). If Asmara won out and Sumtra lost to DIG, Asmara and DIG would make the playoffs, however, if Asmara won out and Sumatra won every game except this week’s game, DIG would be eliminated because of their loss to Asmara, as long as WSR won against BCBC and DIG. In reality, the bottom line is that more than likely with a win here, DIG is in, with a loss here, WSR could be out, with a win here, it doesn’t guarantee WSR anything with likely the hardest remaining schedule of any team in the league still having to play Dallas & Whatever.

Prediction: DIG 56-10

I know your elevator don't go all the way to the top, that I'm sure of but I damn sure wish it involved Ray Rice.

I'm sure it was, ridiculous that it was a result of a missed XP though, the sim could have at least made it believable.

Yeah i mean you guys did what you did and it was god enough to win, hats off to you, for us, it would've been different if it were a missed FG, but an Extra Point Attempt? C'mon now...bout kicker has missed 3 this season and. Still have a hard time buying that, it's a friggin extra point, virtually automatic, it's extremely rare that even 1 is missed in a season.

The difference between going Into OT and having a shot at a guaranteed playoff spot or potentially bring eliminated from the playoffs was an extra point kick? Seriously? That is a prime example of a team getting screwed by the sim. But it is what it is, not trying to take anything away from you guys because who knows what would have happened in OT.

I've been on both sides so feel your pain bro...It's comical that a great game comes down to either side being bent over by the SIM...Thanks for the write-ups as well, appreciate it...
