i know it's only a few hours from game time but hey, i got a few minutes and am bored out of my mind, also dont post much but love the casual forums woot woot, go casual.....
Charlestown Chiefs (8-1 -- 1st in West) at Detroit Muscle (8-1 -- 3rd in West)
This is the marquee matchup for week 10 and to no surprise it's in the west. These 2 juggernauts have been dominating their opponenents throughout the season with each team slipping up just once. As you would expect from 2 dominant teams both boast an impressive point differential with great offenses and defenses, here are a few of the key matchups i see going into tonight's game.
Detroit QB - Red Six Shooter vs Chiefs Secondary - Red is having an impressive season currently in the top 5 in the conference in the QB position and currently #7 overall in the O MVP Race. What's perhaps most impressive in Red's season is he's hurling it 34.6 times per game and boasts an even more impressive 25/5 TD to Int Ratio. HOWEVER, he will be going up against a chiefs secondary that has picked off 29 passes currently tied for 2nd in the west. Will Red be able to keep the ball away from the ballhawking chief defenders, because as we all know in a big game turnovers are always key.
Charlestown HBs - Gman V2 and SEAMSTRESS vs Muscle Defenders - The 2 rushers for Charlestown rely on the broken tackle to get loose and they have been damn good at it combining for 209 broken tackles on 301 Carries which shakes out to nearly 0.7 broken tackles/carry. HOWEVER they are going up against perhaps the best tackling team in the entire league. With only 81 missed tackles on the season that's less than 10 per game and puts then #2 in the league and #1 in the conference. This will be a key matchup, will Detroit be able to flex their muscle (yes, pun intended) and continue to bring down ball carriers or will the Charlestown HB's continue to power over opposing defenders.
Charlestown K - Mumbles Kicker vs Detroit K Charlie Brown - This thing could come down to a 3 pt deficit, and I ask you, whom would you rather have on your side in a tight game, Mumbles or Charlie. In this matchup I'm going with Charlie, while he's had far fewer attempts this season he has been perfect so far going 19/19 FGs (7/7 in 40+ attempts) and 64/64 on PATs, whereas Mumbles has been a bit shaky going 14/16 from 40+ and missing a PAT on the season. If this comes down to a FG in overtime, I sure hope it's Charlie making the attempt.
This game will be a game for the ages, as good of a regular season game as you will see, strength against strength, weakness against weakness. Although I'm partial to the Chiefs (picked pocket jr), I'm going to go with Detroit in this one for the "upset" 27-24 Muscle win at home!
