Pacific Pro Week 5 Write-Up Oceania Week

Southeast Asia Conference

Komodo Game of the Week
Carthage Clash @ Outlaw 1%er’s

There is no doubt in my mind O1% is making the playoffs, they’re certainly good enough. The major question about them I have is exactly how good are they? They faced their toughest opponent in week 1, not even from their conference, and have won 3 straight games 255-0. I find it absolutely amazing that no one in SEA can seem to stop DP’s rushing attack, since they are apparently allergic to passing the football. Carthage came close to winning this game but 2 Int’s gave DP ‘game winning’ possessions.

In this game, I do think that Carthage has the upper hand, I think they’re slightly more ready for this stage at this point, but when the playoffs get here, it might be a different story.

Carthage Clash 14-13

Oceania Conference

Middle of the Road Game of the Week
Newfoundland Roughnecks @ Williamsport Soul Reavers

Honestly, this game barely got a write-up at all. Newfoundland shouldn’t have much trouble here. At the beginning of this season, the WSR were ranked #16 (preseason analysis post), most likely, they’re not the worst team in the conference, but they’re far from the best. LA completely shut down WSR’s running attack and missed tackles continue to plague the defense. NFR pulled out a close win against KC in week 4, having to overcome a lot of missed tackles and muster up an offensive attack. Oreo garnered 2 TDs despite not even getting 50 total yards. Unfortunately for WSR, that’s probably good enough for NFR to win in Week 5 as well.

Prediction: Newfoundland Roughnecks 24-7

Underdog Game of the Week
OffTopica Miracle @ Sumatra Seahawks

One of these teams is coming off of yet another very close loss, whereas the other is coming off a ‘closer than should be’ win. The big difference for each team was the passing game, one team went off and the other team simply didn’t. Both of these teams have a ton of potential and frankly, I expected them both to be better. Right now, I just don’t really feel like OTM is ready to take that next step but this is an opportunity for them to prove me wrong. I think they’re better than the ‘bottom half’ of the league but not quite ready to take on the top half. In this game, I’m not sure if there’s a real underdog, but in the league I think both of these teams fit that description, they’re certainly teams that could make the playoffs and make some noise.

Prediction: Sumatra Seahawks 31-28

Against the odds Game of the Week
Bow Chicka Brown Cow @ Asmara Freedom Fighters

This actually could be the best game of the week, both are coming off of very close losses, they need to do much better being efficiently offensively. I’m going to give Asmara the edge here because I think they’ve done better against stronger, but ultimately, I have a hunch turnovers are going to be the difference maker.

Prediction: Asmara Freedom Fighters 24-21

Powerhouse Game of the Week
Dallas Paladins @ $in City $yndicate

Dallas is coming off of a game against a “squash” team; $C$ barely escaped BCBC. Neither BCBC or $C$ had a very effective passing game, The difference is that $C$ had a much better running attack and ultimately that made the difference. Heading up against Dallas, it’s going to take a lot more than a one-dimensional effort to win. $C$, it’s time to put up or shut up.

Prediction: Dallas Paladins 35-13

Outback Game of the Week
Whatever @ Razorback Nation

It should be to no one’s surprise that both of these teams are undefeated. Here’s a fact, one of them will not be saying that at the end of week 5; unless of course it ends in a tie; which would be sort of hilarious. Asmara put up one heck of a fight but fell just short against Whatever, despite throwing 2 Ints, Whatever found a way to win this game. Ultimately it was actually Whatever’s Special Teams Defense that did in Asmara , forcing a fumble on a punt return and keeping the Asmara offense to FG’s for the most part. Both of these offenses, frankly, left a lot to be desired. RN however, did a bit better job against Dig; it was still a competitive game but DIG continues to turn over the football and that seems to be the difference here. Whatever is going to have to do a heck of a lot better job offensively if they hope to beat RN.

Prediction: Razorback Nation 21-20

Nice write up (again) Jack. You're right about the POs, we'll make it then start making noise.

DPs? We'll do them when we meet
