Pacific Pro Week 3 Matchups

Southeast Asia Conference

Palembang Royally Drunken Monks @ Addicts Relapse

I’ll be honest, I did this write-up primarily out of respect for PRDM who is 2-0, I don’t actually think this game is going to prove worthy of a write-up. PRDM hasn’t faced a good team yet and so they’re clearly firing on all cylinders, however, AR has faced two teams, one that is suffering horribly from chemistry hits and another that destroyed them. The biggest issue I foresee is Tony Montana III’s tendency to throw interceptions. This could be a situation where I am overlooking a team who pulls out an upset; I doubt it.

Prediction: PRDM 75-13

Komodo Game of the Week

Carthage Clash @ Yo Mama

It wasn’t hard to pick a GotW for SEA considering there isn’t very many competitive games in that conference this week.

Carthage is a difficult team to read as well because they got trounced in week 1 against Sumatra, out of a stronger conference, but then went into week 2 with the ability to pad their stats. When given the opportunity they have a solid offense and defense. Yo Mama has had a stat padding game as well, but their first matchup of the season, against DIG, was extremely hard fought, and lost. There’s plenty to like about this team, also coming in with a solid offense and defense. This, imo, is a game that will separate the men from the boys.

Prediction: Yo Mama 17-10

Oceania Conference

Whatever @ $in City $yndicate

When you really look at the SEA conference, it’s hard to find a team that didn’t play an easy opponent in week 1 and Whatever is no different, but they also played an easy opponent in week 2 as Amsterdam has proved very quickly, they are a team not necessarily to be overlooked but to be easily outplayed. It’s hard to say what Whatever really is because their stats have been completely padded to this point. $C$ however is 2-0; one of those wins came against DIG, a victory that quite frankly, surprised me as I expected DIG to play much better. I think this could be a good matchup for both teams, it’ll show us what each team is really made of, neither one of these teams faced much competition in the first two weeks it would seem.

Prediction: $C$ 35-13

Dallas Paladins @ Sumatra Seahawks

I’m not impressed with Dallas, that doesn’t mean I won’t be in week 1 but let’s be really honest here, the competition they’ve faced hasn’t exactly been stiff, despite the fact Legacy was able to put up 31 on them. Scott Cooley already has 14 TD passes after two games, The Scottish Sensation is entering this week with Receiving TDs, and Heinrich Chan enters his week with 10 rushing TDs. So far their best receiver has been Tight end Sammy Snaggerman with 222.5 Yards and 4 TDs. Defensively they are creating turnovers at a ridiculous rate. Sumatra’s running game is having similar success and while their passing attack is succeeding it is not doing so quite at the rate that Dallas is having success. Defensively There isn’t much to show for turnovers, but they have done a good job bringing down the ball carrier. Bottom line here is, I clearly overestimated Sumatra, I didn’t underestimate Dallas at all, but against a formidable opponent, they’re going to have to prove they can do the same thing that they’ve done to their ‘bye week’ opponents.

Prediction: Dallas Paladins 24-21

Dirty Island Gurupies @ Asmara Freedom Fighters

From a statistical standpoint DIG has left a lot to be desired thus far, currently ranking near the middle in the league in every category; except for pass defense. Asmara however, has done quite well thus far. To be fair, it’s pretty easy to look good when one of your first two games was against a CPU-Esque team. Whereas DIG has played two solid teams in a row thus far; DIG really needs to work on getting their running game involved imo, Jordan Boozer has been nearly nonexistent within the offense to this point. Their defense however has done a very good job creating turnovers and getting to the QB. Asmara has had no issues at all passing the ball or running the football, but again, CPU-Esque week one matchup where they scored 250+ points, sort of goes a long way to pad stats. Defensively they’ve also been able to get to the QB and create turnovers; however, I should mention that against Razorback Nation, while Asmara did secure one interception, they threw four of their own. Asmara also was plagued with missed tackles against RN; going up against a team that really has done a good job of creating turnovers and getting to the QB against good teams, Asmara could be in for a very long day. Against the one competitive team they’ve faced, they did not fare well, at all.

Prediction: DIG 55-17

OffTopica Miracle @ Williamsport Soul Reavers

This game could turn out to be a very interesting one, Both teams had a week 1 ‘stat pad’ game. Last week however Offtopica hit a road block in the form of Newfoundland and Williamsport dismantled the Cryptic Legends with what initially looked like a competitive game, only to turn into a dismantling.

Far be it from me to sit here and try to convince you however that WSR is worthy of the statistical rankings it currently has, they’re not. WSR comes into this game with some disadvantages, one of which is team chemistry. Offtopica has done a great job on the ground and Defensively they’ve done a good job creating turnovers. With the chemistry situation, this could spell bad news for WSR. Still, I expect this to be a very tight game against a pair of “middle of the road” teams in the Oceania Conference.

Prediction: Offtopica Miracle 31-21

Outback Game of the Week

L.A. Resistencia @ Newfoundland Roughnecks

These guys look to be two of the top teams in the Oceania conference, I expect nothing short of an excellent game. This will be LA’s first truly competitive game and I’ve knocked other teams for that but this isn’t a situation where I’m going to do that because of my preseason opinion on them. I thought they were good then and so that hasn’t changed thus far. They’ve had the opportunity to fire on all cylinders twice now so you have to think that in this game, things will slow down a bit for them. Newfoundland played a very surprisingly close game against the Marines despite a win and ran through OffTopica. There’s no doubt in my mind however that NR is one of the better teams in the conference, early in the season, this game could have playoff seeding implications.

Prediction: L.A. Resistencia 13-10

Good write up and thanks for doing it.

On L.A. Resistencia and Newfoundland--I think it will be close too. L.A. is a great team, beat us pretty good in preseason scrim, and we are hurting at Chem compared to them. They are definitely one of the teams I fear. We'll do much better than in the scrim; not sure if we can beat them though.

Good write-up!

And GG Sumatra. Those were the 2 most lopsided halves I've ever seen in GLB. I thought while watching the game that you guys were going to beat us by 50. We just got lucky with fortunate ints. That game would be quite different if we played again.

But it was worse than that, we forgot to tackle...

Frankly, the ball bounced our way a couple times because our tackling was horrid as well. Could've bed much closer, probably should have been. Very possible that if we meet again the results are different.
