Pacific Pro Playoff Matchups

South East Asia Conference

Vick’s Dog Walking Service @ The Dead Presidents

In their regular season matchup, this was a very close game and honestly, I expect the same here. VDWS has had a very competitive season for the most part, even in their losses, they were able to keep the games reasonably close. Where they failed in the first matchup however was turnovers and a lack of running game. We all know very well that the Dead Presidents just seem to have this thing against passing the ball, like…ever. This gives them two big advantages imo, ball control and clock control (positive lack of turnovers and the other team rarely getting the ball). So, to me, this game is going to be about VDWS and what it does with the football when it has the football, they can’t turn the ball over or this game is over.

Prediction: Dead Presidents – 24-21

Cult of Charleston Rowdies @ Addicts Relapse

In their first matchup it was reasonably close but not as close as the VDWS/DP game. More so, in the first matchup, Addicts controlled the scoreboard the entire game, they never trailed. Like the previous game I talked about, the Rowdies had a turnover and serious lack of running game while Addicts simply rolled over the Rowdies on the ground. I wish I could tell you that I believed it would be different, but I don’t. The only shot that the Rowdies have here imo is to shutdown AR’s running game.

Prediction: Addicts Relapse – 54-17

Colonial Marines @ Palembang Royalty Drunken Monks

Honestly. The first time around this matchup was uglier than a boy with a hunchback in a school girl uniform. It was a shutout 31-0 and once again, turnovers killed the losing team, that and lack of a scoring offense of course. I wouldn’t exactly say that PRDM ‘stands out from the crowd’ but they’re in the playoffs for a reason, they’re efficient. Is that good enough to win a championship? I don’t know, maybe not, but it’s going to be good enough to win this game.

Prediction: PRDM 35-7

Cult of Personalities, Wu! @ Detroit Lightning

Detroit Lightning won the first matchup here and like the Addicts game, it depends on what your definition of close is; I’d say they kept it reasonably close while winning by a significant margin the first time around. I will say, I don’t feel like it was turnovers that took away the CPW’s chances to win the first matchup, it was an atrocious rushing attack, with four guys running the ball, they didn’t eclipse 100 yards, while Detroit’s QB alone did that. Perhaps the key to this game for Cult is to attack Little Willie aggressively, perhaps then, they’ll have a chance. The issue is, Servin Breakfast could then torch them through the air. It’s going to be a tough grinding matchup I think, I also think it could be an upset.

Prediction: Detroit Lightning 35-28

Oceania Conference

$in City $yndicate @ LOLBar Superstars

I wish I could tell you about how this game is going to be close, how one or two things done differently could make the outcome much different than the first matchup, however..I can’t do that. Sin City turned the ball over 3 times in the first matchup and it could easily have been 5. They generated very little offense and next to no rushing attack while getting destroyed for over 500 yards by just one running back (combined total of over 600 for the whole team). First and foremost, LBS is one of my two picks for the Conference Championship game here.

Prediction: LBS – 70-3

Sumatra Seahawks @ Asmara Freedom Fighters

There isn’t too many teams in the Pacific League I have more respect for than the Sumatra Seahawks, so I really wish I could predict an upset here..but I can’t and I won’t. The first matchup simply wasn’t close and I don’t think this one will be either. Sumatra struggled with turnovers in the first game, really their offense didn’t do much worse than Asmara’s outside of passing yards, but in the end, it was the number of Touchdowns and the turnovers that put down the Seahawks in the end. It’s possible that an upset could happen if Sumatra can find a way to make those things different, it’ll be tough however.

Prediction: Asmara Freedom Fighters – 35-10

Broomfield Blitz (A.D.D.) @ Chico High Panthers

Having lost only two games..I’m sorry but this game is already over. Broomfield could not match the offense that Chico presented and they certainly haven’t shown the ability to match the defense. I’ve been proven wrong before, but Blitz has shown a tendency to lose bad this season, I’m not expecting them to win, so I’m not expecting them to lose close.

Prediction: Chico High Panthers – 65-3

L.A. Resistencia @ Dirty Island Gurupies

I actually think, despite the score, this was one of the more competitive first matchups. L.A. did have a lost fumble in the first game but they both found an ability to generate offense. Simply put, it wasn’t enough for L.A., they’d need to find a lot more offense, they’d need a lead to start the game. In the first matchup the 2nd and 4th quarters were particularly bad, giving up 14 & 21 points respectively. If they can find a way to button up the offense and defense in those areas, perhaps they can pull a shocker.

Prediction: Dirty Island Gurupies – 35-10
