I haven't done these in quite some time, I'll try to get back into doing them next season more often. Hope you enjoy.
Oceania Conference Games of the Week
LOLBar Superstars @ Asmara Freedom Fighters
The “Try Hards” vs. the “Try Nots” who knows, is anyone really trying these days? Led by Jay ***Culter*** it is going to be expected to see the ball soaring through the air in this game. NWSB Gonzalez has been lighting it up all season with 1100+ yards and 12 TDs, leading his team in receiving, and the fire extinguishers are sure to be on hand as Frank Castle continues to torch turf…and that defense…. Let’s not pretend like Asmara doesn’t have some weapons of their own though. “Twitch” is actually out throwing ***Cutler*** right now in terms of yards, the question is, do they have a receiver that can match what Gonzalez has been able to do? The stats would suggest they don’t, but time will tell. Thy’re also not nearly as dominant on the ground as LBS has been. I think for them, it’s going to be about whether or not their defense can slow down the dominant LOLBar offense. If nothing else, this should be fun to watch.
Prediction: LBS Wins 57-28
Sumatra Seahawks @ Chico High Panthers
We’ve got another gun slinging Quarterback in Borje Salming, but like the previous game, the question is, does he have a wide receiver that can dominate the game, more so, does he need one? Sumatra Golden Shower and ST have combined for more than 2000 yards and 40 TDs, so there’s some life within this offense for sure. Their defense seems to be their bread and butter and the thing that has kept them in the running the most this season. Despite some potentially statistical deficiencies on offense, their defense has really come through. For Chico, honestly, there doesn’t appear to be any offensive deficiencies, Big Nicky IV has been throwing the ball at an insane rate and Paul Hormung and T. Magic have also combined for over 2000 yards and just shy of 40 TDs. Their defense is also a strength, however, in this particular match up, beyond Big Bull Rush IV, I’d have to give a slight nod to Sumatra here. Could be a very interesting game, defensive show down perhaps?
Prediction: Going with the dark horse here Sumatra 45-41
Southeast Asia Conference Games of the Week
D-Town Demolition @ The Dead Presidents
Does D-Town every run the ball? Z Chucks has just under 4000 yards but 83 TDs…say what? What’s crazier is that they do have 2 guys with over 1,000 yards rushing..where do they find the time? Defensively, they look respectable but at the same time, somewhat deficient if you’re comparing them to this week’s opponents, which isn’t a good thing..at all. Offensively, the Dead Presidents have an interesting offense…there’s virtually no passing game at all, so with that, there’s just as little receiving game, however, they have 6 Running Backs with over 1,000 yards and one with over 2,000. If you’re not prepared to stop the run…well that sucks to be you. Defensively, they are capable of flat out shutting teams down. D-Town has potential, but honestly..to win this game they’re going to need a miracle.
Prediction: As much as I want to go “upset” here..I’m smarter than that.. DP takes this 85-14
Palembang Royally Drunken Monks @ Colonial Marines
Wait…there’s a team that throws the ball more than D-Town? What in the ****? 160 TDs and 6000+ yards, well, Goldkova has no shortage of arm stamina I’d say, Idk what’s crazier, the fact that he’s thrown 160 TDs or the fact that he’s thrown just 6 Ints. They’ve also got over 4000 yards of total rushing with nearly 70 TDs..When you add their defense to that…well…this game is probably already over.
The Colonial Marines have a respectable passing attack but it also has more turnovers and less than half of the TDs that PRDM does. They’ve got plenty of ability to run the ball but I wouldn’t suggest it’s elite, and they also have a decent but possibly deficient defense. We’ve seen it before, this is a time when perhaps the underdog gives you something you didn’t see coming, a loss, but like D-Town, they’re going to need a miracle.
Prediction: This one is going to be ugly… 75-10 PRDM
