Bort had a concept and he is clearly married to it.

Personally I think its flawed for essentially the reasons you mention.

But it is what it is.

Personally if I were Bort I would just give in and make the game all about Pro play. Build your dot to Day 240 status on Day 0.

So your dots pro career can then be 12 seasons plus whatever decline seasons you want to play him.

Have dots gain skills and points through the entire career in a declining return. So that veteran players are better than rookies in theory.

Have some VAs that are age limited. So that younger dots are different from older ones in good ways as well as bad. Say "Fresh Legs" +1 stamina per level -1 for every 40 days of age. Or just have it only useable by dots under age 200. "Optimism of Youth" +1% to morale checks per level, -1% for every 40 days of age". "Hungry" +0.1 per level to Strength and Speed etc.

That way a younger dot may still be appealing, even if he doesn't have all the other VAs of experience.

Also put in serious age related salary minimums and salary caps so that teams could not avoid having dots of all ages on the roster.
