Is there a way to do this? I read somewhere (a long time ago) that there was a way to convert your regular EQ into AEQ, but that it cost BTs. Is that still the case? If so, how would one go about accomplishing this?

Your first regular set can't convert into AEQ.
Only the one you use BT to buy can convert into AEQ.
And yes, if you want to convert, it always cost some BT.

It seems like it can but it's a false thing. If you don't get (select) your free (regular) EQ at the very start, you can upgrade at the time you select it. But it still costs you the exact same amount of BT's to do that as it does later when you 'purchase' or 'roll for' your AEQ. So, go ahead and use the free EQ and, when you've got enough BT's and are of high enough level, then either plan out the purchases or begin to roll for your AEQ.
