Howdy there,

I've returned after a rough five years and made an entire team for S40 out of the salvaged FP of days gone by. Problem: I forgot about creating players for a rookie team in the previous season and boosting...so now I have an entire team of completely outmatched players. (Doesn't help that I have no idea what's changed in the last five years and I am trial-and-erroring my AI bigtime.)

Is there any eventual upside to running all these level 1 toons, or will I be perpetually outclassed here?

Thanks in advance for any input.

Are they all still Level 1?

I THINK if you retire them all right now, you'll get 100% of your Flex back, if that affects your decision, but ONLY if they're all still Level 1.

Considering how much you have to catch up on as far as re-learning the game goes, I'd recommend retiring all of your players EXCEPT for one or two. Play them out for the rest of Season 40, then retire them when Season 40 ends. That way, you can get the hang of all the changes in player building, and start fresh with a new crop of players for Season 41 with a better idea of what you're doing.

As for testing your AI, if you want, just keep the team you own, fill it with CPU teams, and keep working on your AI. You'll lose all of your games, of course, but you'll still be able to make sure your AI is working the way you intend it to and calling the correct plays/packages for the correct situations.

Actually, most of them just hit Level 2, and like an idiot I bought custom equipment for all of them, so it's going to be a significant hit to retire everyone.

Ugh. I'm thinking I may have made a mistake in coming back.

Eh, maybe not. I see most of them are 3 days old, so you'll be okay, actually. Your dots will always be 2-3 levels behind the rest of your league, but that's not as bad as it sounds. And as long as they boost up every season, they can still reach Level 79 and catch up to everyone else at Plateau.

So, stick around. Give it a try. You're only slightly screwed, and there's still plenty of fun you can have and plenty of games you can win.

this AND if you work them dots and rent EQ...you can fold them over by position. I ran a whole set like that with SA's and won. EL will not top out but dots will play well

Do not make the mistake worse by boosting them. Just play out the season, get familiar with the training system and then recreate next off-season.

this, as long as you dont boost you will get 100% off your flex back for creating the dots.... if you bought custom equipment you get 70% of that cost back, if you rented eq, then you lose it all for that eq.

but yeah, play out the season, dont boost, and just learn how the game works again... if you retire now, recreating the dots will just be even worse and youll have to wait until the offseason anyway.

So, as long as he hasn't boosted, it's a 100% refund? Even if his dots are already up to Level 2 now from game XP? And it will stay 100% forever?

I thought the 100% refund was only if the dot was Level 1.

I guess the OP can settle this in a hurry... go to one of his unboosted dots, click on the Retirement tab, and see how much Flex he'll get back from retiring the dot, since it tells you before you actually confirm the retirement.
