Lets get some playoff predictions going.

I'll go first even though I suck at these.

Oseburg vs Cobden

I hate picking against Cobden. I think I have to. Oseburg has had an excellent season.

Oseburg by 15

McCoys vs Puffington

They had a close match up in the regular season. I expect this one to be even closer. We have the #1 rushing offense vs the #1 rushing defense. Who will win? I have to go with the McCoys by 4.

Burnside vs Dallas

I think this will be a replay of the regular season. Burnside wins easily

Firebreathing Duckies vs Vicious Circle

I don't know. This will be a close match up. I'll take Vicious in an upset.

USA Conference

Round 1

In a game where the Patriots finally break the code on the Shocker's defense. It isn't enough.
-1st seed Cincinnati defeats the 8th seed State of Franklin (24-21)

Orlando pours on every volt, horsepower and proton and Austin saves its energy for the second round.
-2d seed Austin loses in an upset to a switched on Orlando (35-29)

The Royal Men pull out all stops on offense but too much pressure from KC's pass rush finally costs them ball control at end.
-3d seed Chiefs gets just enough rolls in this shoot out to edge the Kings (45-42)

After watching all the tape Choppin finally switches up their defense and holds Palm Bay to 4 scores.
4th seed Broccoli stops the rush and TKOs my favorite team, the Palookas (34-24)

Damn I thought there'd be more passion to these predictions.
It doesn't bode well for the Choppers when the field is so serious and dispassionate.

Still, in order to argue about something, I still see Broccoli winning against the Palookas. As much as I love Palm Bay's no nonsense, grinding, no surprise, beat this MF! offense; I think its just too one dimensional for this level of play.

My read, based on I admit a limited amount of experience at this level, tells me that while a team might be considered either a rushing team or a passing team, that if they don't have the capability to go the other way then they risk facing an adaptive DC who is willing to change up (in this case) his run coverage in order to advance. And I think that's what happened when Cincinnati held them to 17 points, Aggies to 20 points, and Austin 25.
Even Georgia held them to 27 points.

Considering that Broccoli is just as good rushing as they are at passing then the Palookas will have to gamble which offense they're going to face. Then factor in Choppin's rush defense and I see the Palooka's not advancing. All this with one caveat. Choppin Broccoli has to sell out one direction or the other, there's no way they can keep the ball long enough if they go balanced to ensure victory.

I tend to agree with you Chief. As much as I admire the creativity of the Palookas offense, now that we have seen them play some pretty good DC's, I am skeptical that it can work at this level. And the Broccoli have a great offense.

I think you guys (Choppers) do edge out ATK simply because this just doesn't look like the King's year. But they are definitely capable of beating you guys, so should be very close.

Orlando and Austin will be very close too. Orlando has good coordinators and has pulled off more than one upset in recent seasons. I don't know Austin as well, but obviously a talented roster and capable of putting together a couple of playoff wins. Orlando won the regular season matchup, which makes me think they may match up well.

I certainly hope Cincy beats Patriots. They don't have a win against a playoff team this season so it seems like an upset is unlikely.

This time it's at our house. Mmmmm nachos.

All kidding aside, this wasn't the matchup I wanted. Orlando just seems to match up better against us than we do with them. Hope we can avoid turnovers and give them a good game.
