I downloaded it, but have no idea how to use it. Can someone explain it to me or walk me through it?

UPDATED 2020:

Working VPB on greasy fork: https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/380875-glb-player-builder

Firefox https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/

TamperMonkey for Firefox https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/tampermonkey/

===========

Well... (There are other ways to do this, but I know this method works because I use it)

First off, you have to be using a version of the Firefox browser that works with the Virtual Player Builder

Firefox https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/

Then you should rig that version to stay that version by disabling updates

Firefox will automatically update the version you have if you don't disable that option. You might not even notice the updates until your VPB starts acting up.

To disable the automatic updates

from the menu bar, go to Tools, then at the bottom of that, Options

all the way to the right is the advanced tab, which looks like a cog.

that tab, has a sub tab called Update.

Because I only use FF for this site, I have updates turned completely off. if you don't turn it all the way off, you'll get pop up notifications that you FF version is out of date, and needs to be updated or your computer will explode (which is a bunch of crap)

http://s18.postimg.org/t5o2t3cix/33eesb.jpg

Then you need to add TamperMonkey to Firefox, https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/tampermonkey/

Then you get the VPB itself from Greasy Fork, https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/380875-glb-player-builder

«¤» Alternatively, there's a version of the VPB that works with FF25 http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/173655.
This may or may not save you some time, depending how far into the future you are from when this was written.

==

After you have jumped through all those hoops...

You go to your player page, and go to the Skill Points page

http://s13.postimg.org/e09vfs9rr/t7a.jpg

at the bottom right, under your Special Abilities, the VPB button should show up
http://s24.postimg.org/fjzhg4pqd/t7a.jpg

Click and you'll see this...
http://s15.postimg.org/pi697n00r/t7a.jpg

If you want to do a VPB run for the player you are currently using, from the current day (like to map out the rest of his build) click Cancel

If you want to start an entire new player to experiment with click Ok

I'll start a brand new build

http://s23.postimg.org/sgghtkgnf/t7a.jpg

What I do is highlight the position I want to try, in this case a Combo DT, and then press Ctrl-C to copy it, and then you can right click and paste it into the box (or Ctrl-V). The syntax on the script is very picky, it doesn't allow for extra spaces or anything, so if you highlight, you have to get it exact like in the picture. If you can't get the highlight to work, you can just type it all out with underscores between the words.

Once you get through that, you'll see the screen like this.
http://s15.postimg.org/kk6696w2j/t7a.jpg

I did a Combo DT build over one of my existing Linebackers. You'll notice the SAs are the LB SAs, and also the blue and yellow stars for major and minor attributes are still on the linebacker attributes. What I usually do is start a new player of the type I'm going to simulate, so that the SAs and Stars are the same--it just makes it less confusing. You can retire the player when your done using it for a 100% refund.

So from here, you just pretend you're making a new dot. You spend the 23 (in this case) attribute points. You can put all 23 points into 1 attribute in the VPB interface, taking something up to 33, but that will generate an error message when you try to continue. You have to stop the attribute at 25 just like you would if you were actually creating a player, to get anywhere. Then you get to pick your height and weight with the button at the right.

That interface looks a little weird, but it works. You don't get to pick the actual height and weight you want. You get to put in positive or negative numbers. In this case for a DT you get a range of -3 to 3 for Height, and -18 to 18 for weight.
http://s15.postimg.org/hdkth1qe3/t7a.jpg

The positive and negative numbers may or may not represent the actual height and weight variations of your player. In this case, a DT actually has 9 height options instead of 7 and like 41 weight options instead of 37. For most (99.9%) of my builds, I go max or minimum height or weight anyway for the +2 bonus to whichever attribute. If you're trying to get a specific height or weight for whatever reason, this feature of the VPB can be a pain--but for most people it works well enough.

After that, you just pick whatever day you'd like your player to be born on. Most people create new player on Day 40, but anything between 40 and 48 will get you the same end result.

From here on out, you're basically on your own.
http://s24.postimg.org/tfqpv679h/t7a.jpg

You can see at the top, your height and weight adjusted your attributes, in this case i did minimum height for +2 agility, and max weight for +2 strength.

You can add Skill Points at any time just like you normally would with the little + signs.

At the bottom is the reason for the beast... you get to pick your training type and attributes. You can buy enhancements, and multi training. There's the buttons for next day, and if you want to go back and change something, you can hit previous day. These are the buttons that will glitch of you ever have problems with your VPB.

You can boost whenever you want with the Boost button. This means you can take a player all the way up to L79 without having to spend the real time and flex to do it. You get to see the real effect of different types of training, and different training enhancements.

There's 2 more major features, at the bottom.
http://s10.postimg.org/v7pw5o4yx/t7a.jpg

The Generate Key button will create a code for you that you can copy/paste so that you can save your progress during a build. That's what the 'Load saved Build' button does--but again it's picky, no extra spaces or it'll give you an error message.

The Create print friendly text button will give you a pop up screen that you can copy, with Ctrl-C, and then paste where ever you want. That's how people share builds on the forums.

That's it.

Happy building.

edit: one more thing... there's another add-on that will give you the Player Value of the player you built in the VPB http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/114383
It's a good tool to compare how well you did with a certain build. Usually it takes a few tries to get a build right, and this add-on can tell you which of your attempts was the most efficient. Generally speaking, more efficient builds of the same type will perform better. You can't really compare a high Player Value with in game performance. Just because one type of build gives a higher PV, doesn't mean it will out perform a different type of build with a lower PV.

Not sure how far back it goes, but http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/173655 works for current versions of firefox if you'd like to avoid the no update nonsense.

This should be stickied. I don't consider myself a genius, but I believe I am fairly intelligent, and I had a hell of a time trying to get to the actual 'VPB'. I went over what documentation there was, and only happened to figure it out through cryptic (at the time) messages from a helpful agent, which I again didn't quite understand until I stumbled upon the new buttons on my Skill Point page one day. I do think half of my issue was that I was trying to use the old software version of the 'script' as opposed to the actual browser script it is now. Nonetheless, the VPB helps make a somewhat complicated build process much easier to learn and this is exactly what one needs to see when being referenced to the VPB.

Cheers TJ . This would have saved me a hell of a lot of time haha.

I'll throw this in the OP, but not being a software guru, I'd have to assume that some new version of FF will break the VPB again, so I'll leave what I've got as well.
