Experimental build on a sort of Alex Smith game manager QB. Agile in the pocket, high quality short to medium passing, can run if need be for short yardage. Thoughts?

Made this with the builder script, so it doesn't include EQ or VAs.

worth a shot, right?

The big concern would be that strength is also pass velocity not just ability to throw it down field.

i'd go for it if it was a free player. not sure i'd invest the flex tho if it wasn't

Strength waaay too low imo. And most QBs end up around 50 speed for drop backs, it won't be enough to be an effective runner.

Why is strength too low? Why does he need more? He's not meant to be built as a deep passer or a scrambler. He just needs to run a little for a few yards after he scrambles out of the pocket and most passes will be short routes. Not looking for big gains out of him.

Thing is, even with 55 speed it's not going to be enough to get that couple of yards because by the time he drops back and the defense starts to chase and break blocks he's not going to even get out of the back field. And the low strength will cause the ball to not get there as fast, this isn't the NFL where you are going to throw drag and check downs all day and pick up 4-5 yards with touch passes. The low strength will cause the ball to most likely take too long to get to a WR that may be open allowing the defender to close the gap. That and I don't know a single team that's going to carry 2 passing QBs just to have your "Game Manager" build. Also if the defense knows that all you can do is throw it short it won't be very hard for them to tag you and not have to worry about playing deep, they can run short zones/man defense and shut your offense down when you're in the game.

Unless you're a scrambler arch, any strength below ay LEAST 90 will lead to a lot of deflections and ints. As DarkRogue explained, even short passes will be in danger with a low strength... unless it's a scrambler arch (note... even most scrambler arches have more strength than our QB). It's all about the game physics. Most defenders simply will have too much time to react to the slower pass... even if you set to max Bullet pass it still won't get there fast enough.
