I coach a Pro Competitive league team and have an AI input/output set that says regardless of the amount of time left in the game, if the down is between 4 and 4 (4th down) and the yards to go are between 2.5 and 0, and I'm outside of FG range, that I will run a play from a short-yardage rushing package.

But it seems like it never calls that and always punts the ball instead.

Am I missing something obvious? Can't figure it out.

don't use "2.5" the decimals screw things up

Yeah, I don't think the AI even recognizes decimals.

Just put your 4th & 3 inputs above this input and then it will natural achieve what you want to achieve in 4th & 2.5

Yeah its all about the progression down the page.

Do it like this

Input 4th & 3-100
Punt
4th & 0-3
Run

You will want to have some other 4th down settings for late in the game though. For instance if its 4th and 10 and you are down late enough, you will want to put the ball in the air instead. And if its the last moments of the game you might even want to throw on a 4th and 1.
