Im trying to make a Screen TE,

one that does a lot of damage on short routes, and screens.

Is this a fail build?
What would I need.
Suggestions?

Why build such a specific TE? There are only 2 TE screens unless you put him in as WR too.

He'll need high Agility, decent Speed, decent Strength, decent Carrying, First Step, and all the break tackle SAs, VAs and AEQ. Basically, you build a power TE. If all you want is to run screens and not throw to him down field, then you'll only need mid-range Catching. Typically, a receiving TE will need a good amount of Catching. This would be interesting as you could really pump up his other skills with lower Catching or make him a good blocker that catches screen passes.

He would suck.

He'd also be INCREDIBLY easy to shut down on defense with only minimal scouting. Especially if he doesn't have the catching to go slightly downfield. Bad idea to make a build that is so specialized. What you'd wan to aim for is a power TE who can break tackles but is capable of making the catches on multiple routes so as not to be so easy to scout.

He would have to be a power TE but there are a lot of very good Veteran Abilities which would support such a build: Possession Receiver, YAC Attack, Shed Weight, Workout Warrior. Plus, the short receiving VAs are there as well, Mr. Reliable, Go To Guy.

The only other way around it is if the TE forgets about speed and agility and focuses on strength, carrying and catching. This way he can make the short catches and still be able to break tackles. He'd need an awful lot of strength and carrying though, as well as the right AEQ.
