Why do my kicker not attempt field goals when settings says 40 yards attemps and we are at the 30-35 yard line?

the 30-35 yard line means 47 to 52 yard FG attempts

FGs are 17 yards longer than the spot on the field(yard line you are on). For a 40 yarder, that would be the 23 yard line.
