On the other hand, have you ever seen a fumble where the ball carrier did not go down?

The R word is like the N word

Using it immediately negates anything else you have said and renders thee banished to the deepest dungeons of public opinion as unworthy of further listening to.

Outside of its technical uses as to growth, fire, movement restraint etc, yeah it positively is.

Try using it as a teacher and find yourself out of work. Try using it as a politician and enjoy your last term in office.

Calling someone that, bad ju ju. Educated people of class and style will ban you from the proverbial social forums toot sweet.

It's not yet, but there was a big push a couple of years ago to try and make it like that. Quite frankly it's sickening.

the problem with those retards is what gets PC'd up next. I'm guessing with the way America is going is words like "fatty, lard-ass, blimp, etc etc" will be. The I'm-beautiful-the-way-I-am crowd and no one should be reminded of how bad they have it pisses me off.

for that reason alone I will not stop using words like retard (which means to be delayed, or to be slow) which fits the bill perfectly. Mentally challenged is too broad TBQH, ranging from those that are slow, to those that are practically vegetables and includes autistic kids, some of which are not slow at all. retard, fits much better. The self-righteous bastards who hate having their kids hear a word like that, even when it isn't about them have the issues. Same with the fatties who think their fine the way they are. You're slow, you're a retard. You're fat, put the fork down and get healthy.

I can say all day "damn I am such a retard" and no one will get offended except the parent of or the actual person that is mentally retarded.

If I switch that out.... Could be a problem for quite a few more including myself.

The self righteous bastards are the ones who use a terrible medical condition that has ruined a life or really three or more to deride someone.

Well I am not such a parent and its a term that bothers me and I have heard others take offense to the term as well, and I know no one with a child with the condition.

You all may just be missing what people think of your speech when you use these terms.

And I am not a PC guy myself either. But some stuff is just mean spirited and unpleasant and says more about the speaker than the subject being spoken of. Though it does depend on age etc. I think anyone over a certain age gets a pass, no one expected grey beards to learn new tricks after all. At least for this word. The other one, unless you live down south you would have to be quite old indeed to get a pass on that one.
