To be fair, most place names in the world are derived from place names in Western Europe anyway.

All the English sounding ones are named after places in England or some other part of the British Isles, and all the Spanish sounding ones are named after places in Spain. People were pretty unoriginal when they were conquering the world back in the 16th Century.

The only places that really have indigenous names are in the East, so I think Laos are the only team in this league that needs to change their name.

So there.

If not legit, it's at least an apt description.

So it's both legit and an inarguable truth.

That's hillbilly won't give up his terrible San Antonio Heat name tbh ... he'll claim history or some crap like that.

Like you need to hold onto a tradition of a .500 record.

"San Antonio Heat" brings cow humping to mind, so it's kind of lose/lose, tbh.

It makes me think of "Rikkhen", which of course leads to thought of animal-fornicating.
