Yep I remember when most the regions had related names and even city names. I think the minor leagues not being affiliated with any region has killed the way teams decide on their names.

A few days ago, a new agent asked me if I was German because of my team. I explained how things used to be on GLB and directed him to the rookie leagues or pee wee leagues.
It was funny because I remember when me and my teammates picked the city name Regensburg. We basically wanted to find a city name that sounded good with Steel Rain and was not being used by another team. At the time it was very difficult to find an unused European city name that started with an R or S.

I get two or three PMs a year asking about my team name too from people from either Serbia or the surrounding area.
Half of the time the PMs are written in Serbian too, and I have to use Google translate to figure them out.
