I've read this is possible, how can I use my BT to get SP?

Click on bonus tokens, then click on the "perm bonus" tab. You should see an option to convert 15 bonus tokens to a skill point. Use this very sparingly since you'll need those bonus tokens later. It's great if you need 1 skill point to cap before boosting, but otherwise you shouldn't use it much.
