So, is Automatic worth spending SPs in? Worth getting in AEQ? Worth sticking on CEQ? Worth anything at all?

I think it's worth one AEQ, but I have my doubts that it does much at all. It certainly has no effect on XP%. The biggest trouble is finding something better to spend SP/AEQ on. You've got three SA choices and I see no reason to take any of them past 10, so it's almost not worth it to ignore auto.

I should just bite the bullet and build two identical kickers, one with it and one without and see what happens.

I used to feel the same way, but now I'm not so sure. This past season I didn't have Automatic AEQ and my XP% is down considerably. I'm not sure if it has to do with the law of averages catching up to me after a few good seasons, but here's my last 6:

In looking at it closer, S25 had a lot of blowout games that sucked down stamina so that skews the numbers a fair amount, but it still is leading me to re-equip automatic this season.

Had automatic AE (>5 auto) from roughly season 17 on. Check out seasons 19, 20,21 (it was probably 10 by then). Don't get RNGed into thinking something works* when it doesn't. XPs are 99.999% luck once you're to level 20 or so, assuming a properly built kicker. Not even in game breath affects them near as I can tell. If unconvinced contrast his S12 and 13 vs those three above. I guarantee you his build was not half of what it was then during s19/20/21.

EDIT: *By "works" I mean has a noticeable affect on players' abilities. I do think automatic works I just think the actual bonus is so negligible that maybe over the course of 10,000 FG/XP attempts you'd get 1-2 that it actually would have made a difference on.

Wouldn't you expect to see at least some major difference? The only real difference is seen in the low end rookie leagues.

That's crazy. Looks like he even had the same exact single-season drop that I had. I dipped to 95.67% and he had 95.69%.

Honestly if I were you I'd still add the automatic piece. You just never know when that 2/10,000 kick will be a game winner. LOL
