QB's sometimes act pretty stupid in the present sim. On many QB run plays in real football (Mostly outside runs) they do not tuck the ball immediately because this would be a dead give away to the defense its a run.

So on plays like this bugged play:

If there were logic on the scrambling/rushing QB that says essentially if there is no forward path available for you, then choose to pass/throw away the ball instead of taking a loss.

Have the WR's/valid passing targets also make a vision check to see if they can tell the play has been broken up and turn to the QB. QB can then pass to or at their feet so as to avoid a large loss or possibly recover the play.

In real football, QBs check out of designed runs by throwing the ball? Did I misread the OP?

that would end in a ton of Illegal Man Downfield penalties.

I figured it is a lesser evil than the QB turning aruond and running further towards his own end zone.

Those plays are usually run option plays. The o-line is instructed not to get into the 2nd level to try and make blocks (to avoid the illegal man down field thing).
