Forum > Suggestions > Include non-GLB Tourney wins to player rings system
Link

As it is now, you do not receive recognition for winning a tournament besides the automated GLB Tourney.
I think all tourneys should be counted in this system.

EDIT: As long as there is an agreed upon minimum number of teams (something like 16/bracket, or if anyone has better ideas post em)

+1 to OP with the possible addition that the tournament must be approved by GLB and maybe show a few seasons worth of competition before it gets approval.

-1. The GLB tournaments are not only official, but they're also larger and more competitive than any of the ad hoc tournaments. Opening the ring system to any rinky-dink four-team tournament is unnecessary, devalues the ring system, and is a bad idea.

Add an additional ring box for non GLB tourneys!

* GLB tournament trophies won by this players agent.
* Independent tournament trophies won by this players agent.

Why not add rings for other tournies tbh? Another way to recognize agents is always good imo.

I agree if the OP's idea was implemented anyone could start a little rinky dink tourney and game the system.

-1 to the OP

Pending that there is a minimum number of teams to a tourney, and some kind of check to make sure teams are relatively close in effective level etc.

Also there would need to be something in the game to prevent teams from creating tourney rings (where people throw games to allow each team to win one), should be something like your team can only be entered into 5 tourneys each season or something

Edited OP to include a new idea that seems to be the main reason for -1's.

If this happened then I would give it a +1. but I don't see GLB sanctioning other tourneys just to pass out rings. we have a hard enough time getting trophies awarded from the ToC tourney and a few others the way it is now.

Don't confuse pennies with slugs. Take trophies for example -- right now, teams can earn trophies by winning any LOLeague or loltournament, but they're labelled. You know what you're getting when you win Regional Pro Competitive #8 and no one confuses it with, say, World League or the GLB Pro Tournament.

I can't find the Bort (Catch22?) quote, but I vaguely remember that the current automated tournament setup eventually would be available for us commoners to use when organizing tournaments. That would go a long way toward making this suggestion possible.
