I've been gone about a year and I cant seem to find my players money. I see the daily salary but I cant seem to find out what I actually have. Even when buying equipment I don't see any money being used. Someone either wana fill me in or point out how I must be blind?

Ahh, the secret movement. One of those "things" that happens without anyone even noticing. You see it on TV almost every day, it's pervasive in the U.S., but when exactly did it become the parents responsibility to pay for their adult children to go to a major university. So many ways a child can do it on their own or, attend junior college and stay at home. Even the most gifted, you know, those kids that attend college at age 12, can get their basic stuff down at a community college. Cost, 1200.00 a semester, easy part time job can cover that.

My parents told me from when I was in middle school, "We're going to do everything we can to encourage you to go to college, but we're not going to pay for it. You're on your own."

It was a longer road than if they had just footed the bill, but my degree is much more meaningful because I had to (and continue to) work for it.

Are they Children or Adults? Because, they can't be both; either one or the other. The fact is, now days, how could a "Young Adult" possibly afford such a bill? Unless they are smart enough and have the grades or extremely gifted enough to earn a athletic scholarship... the cost to actually pay for your education is very difficult. Ok, so a young adult manages to get all these student loans to cover whatever costs are left over from any potential grants or whatever. Once they finish 4 years or more of college, they'll likely be in debt for a good $100K or more depending on the length of schooling and degree seeked. Once they graduate, they only hope they can find a great paying career in the field of study. If they can't, then they work for minimum wage until they find something. 30 years later they still are paying on student loans.

If you work in public service and pay every month the balance is forgiven after 10 years. Currently student loans are forgiven after 25, new loans will be forgiven after 20 regardless of profession or income.

Granted that's a long time, but for low income people payments are capped at 15% (will be 10%) of your discretionary income. If you really are working at minimum wage a sizable chunk of you loan would be forgiven.

I have a nephew with a masters in nuclear something or another, doesn't owe anyone a cent. Military paid for it. My son went to community college for 1100.00 a semester with a full load, paid for it with his part time job and stayed at home with me. My Daughter in law has a masters, teaches disabled kids, no idea what it's called. She went to a private school, paid for hit on her own, well, still paying on something like 30,000.00. Like climberpete said, the rest of her debt will be forgiven by the state in a couple more years so long as she stays with the public school system.

Just some examples of how it can be done, there are many more, but the point I was trying to make is how it's now a common belief that the parents are somehow responsible for a child's college. Worse yet, children are coming to expect the parents to pay. That since of entitlement is pervasive in the States and not just in this topic.
