Don't take this the wrong way, but you will need more than boosting to win in Gold. GL
Absolutely...look, I make no bones about still being on a learning curve, but I just got back into this game two season ago after taking a break for awhile, so all in all, I feel that I can stand up and not embarrass myself in GL. I've just seen this thread crop up every off-season so far (went back awhile in the forums as well) and while I usually let things slide by, this one I've kind of been waiting for.
Boosting:
I am very blessed that my wife and I have good jobs, and we are able to do fairly well in this pretty crappy economy. We live a stone's throw away from the water on Tampa Bay, have Bucs season tickets, and yes...I boost my GLB team. That said, I've been in the situation in my life where I would never have boosted a single player, not because I wouldn't want to, but because I couldn't. So I will never stand up here and give crap to anyone who can't boost; who am I to tell someone how to spend their money? What I will say, however, is that those of you who don't boost should be thankful for those that do; it pays for this game and allows you the opportunity to play at the level you do for free. It seems to me to be about the fairest thing going out there, so acting as though boosting owners are somehow villains sounds alot like sour grapes.
Solo owner:
Actually, my son does make a few players, but since he lives in the same house and hears me harping on builds when we talk about GLB, go ahead and consider me one of those owners that build all his own guys. I have heard those whiners saying that it ruins the "spirit" of GLB to have one guy own all his players....really? Among several reasons I took a hiatus back a couple of years ago was because of having to recruit every damn season, sorting through guys who wouldn't know a good build if it bit them on the ass, and having to deal with the constant attitudes about starting and gameplans. If that is your idea of a "hobby", then go for it....not for me. One of the nice things about PeeWee is that I don't have to worry about Bort's constant shifting the game to please the boobirds out there; if he decides next season to nerf passing again, I'll just build different dots. I like the strategy, and now that we are going to Gold, maybe I will find an agent or two who builds good players, can stick to a build plan that fits the scheme, and wants to be part of a team that competes at the highest level. If not, I'm ok too. That said, as one of the newer owners in PW, I know I'm not going to attract much attention from top agents, and it will only come after we manage some success in GL before guys want to be a part of this team. The guys you are talking about....sorry, but I probably don't want many of them with the Nuclides.
Had that vent built up for awhile...have a great day guys!!!
