The whole age thing is pretty cool and it makes a lot of sense considering how football works in real life. But... the age thing is VERY lame and damaging to the game without also taking player level into consideration. The problem is that levels are only suggested for the leagues. This is bad for GLB because it hurts competition by causing a massive rift between boosted players and non-boosted players. The emergence of underground leagues proves that the current league system is bad for GLB. This is also bad for business, because it makes more sense to spend nothing than it does to spend $20 to boost a player only partially.
Now, there should be a massive rift between paying customers and freeloaders. But what about the people in between? They benefit very little from the money that they contribute to GLB. Their players aren't welcome in the lower level or underground leagues, and they're not good enough to have much fun with in the higher level leagues with max boosted players. Why should those customers pay anything? Do they get any noticeable advantage over freeloaders? Considering that max boosters and freeloaders tend to band together in their own leagues, the guys in the middle who still contribute a significant amount of money to GLB are mostly left out to dry.
Here's my suggestion. Keep the leagues structured the way that they are. Just make one simple change. Change the level suggestions to level requirements. This way, player age still matters and every agent will have a league that fits them well. The people who boost a lot and spend hundreds or thousands of dollars will be in the "Elite" leagues, and the players who spend some money to boost will be in the "Competitive" leagues. Additionally, the freeloaders will mostly be in the regular leagues. Therefore, the higher level requirements will be fore the Elite leagues and the requirements for the competitive leagues will be slightly lower, with the regular leagues having the lowest requirements. This will create a more competitive and fun environment. It also makes more sense considering how football works in reality. Thirty year old football players don't automatically play in the NFL; they have to have the skills for it. Lastly, the level ranges should be modified so that there is enough overlap to drive competition and increase revenue. If freeloaders are banned completely from the competitive leagues then no one will ever feel the need or desire to boost. The same would be true if partial boosters are banned entirely from the elite leagues.
As it stands now, people who have a little money to spend on GLB are scared away or end up spending nothing because the only way to get a real advantage is to spend $80. Call me old fashioned, but I believe that it's good business to make sure that every customer get's their money's worth.
Example of what the leagues would look like (with some level overlap):
University Elite
Ages 60-120
Lv29-38
University Competitive
Ages 60-120
Lv24-32
University
Ages 60-120
Lv18-27
