Playoff time is here. This is when the season really starts. So everyone make sure you don't have your K playing QB or your P playing CB, cause there's no excuses. I did a little playoff break down last season and was awful at it, so I figured I would try again.

I will have to concede that Alpha is a little deeper than Zeta, but think the top teams from Zeta are every bit as good as the top teams in Alpha. Needless to say that any team that makes the Ship this season will have earned it thru playing some top quality teams.

ALPHA

#8 SAPL A-Team (10-6) @ #1 Operation Dot Ball (15-1)

RSM - (34-0) ODB

Highlights> SAPL didn't get much of anything going on offense only managing 99 yards of total offense. ODB gained over 450. ODB tried to give the game away by fumbling the ball 4 times, but lost none. ODB harassed SAPL's QB's to the tune of 8 sacks while SAPL recorded none themselves. This game was in total control by ODB.

Thoughts on the match-up> ODB comes in sporting the leagues #1 offense and rushing attack and a #2 ranked defense, while SAPL was 13th in offense and only 13th for defense. Special Teams edge goes to ODB as well. This will be a tough match-up for the #8 seed to overcome.

Prediction> Much of the same as the first meeting (40-3) ODB

#7 Georgetown Generals (10-6) @ #2 Guyana Punch Lite (14-2)

RSM - (35-16) Guyana

Highlights> Georgetown actually had more total yards, but Guyana had the big plays. A KR and a PR for a TD. The only big play Georgetown had they were unable to capitalize on, getting an INT on Guyana's 33 yard line they were only able to muster a FG

Thoughts on the match-up> Guyana was ranked in the top 10 in almost every statistical category while the Generals were not in the top 10 for almost anything. The Punch can run and throw, while the Generals can only throw. I like the team that can do everything well as opposed to only one thing.

Prediction> The Punch knock out the Generals in a close one (31-24) Punch

#6 Legends of the Road (11-5) @ #3 Lampang Lionfish (13-3)

RSM - (17-13) Legends

Highlights> Both teams struggled to put points on the board. The Legends came from behind in the 4th quarter on the strength of a ST's PR for a TD. Both teams had scores of 95+ yards each. Neither team really did anything well, just a battle of wills, won my the Legends.

Thoughts on the match-up> In a rematch from last seasons E#1 Championship game, this is probably not the team either of these wanted to face in the first round. The Legends may have 5 losses, but they were in a similar position last season and usually come on strong during the playoffs. Lionfish are the defending champions and have just recently announced that this is their farewell season for a while. Both teams are top notch and capable of winning it all.

Prediction> Lionfish use the nachos and Legends get the skids (21-17) Lionfish

#5 The Marvelous League Of Justice (11-5) @ #4 Austin Wineswilling Fancy Boys (12-4)

RSM - (19-14) Fancy Boys

Highlights> In a game dominated by Austin, it was made close at the end by a PR for a TD in the 4th quarter by Marvelous. Justice didn't help themselves by losing two fumbles but couldn't get a run game going. Austin just had the better running game but couldn't put them away and ended up holding on at the end.

Thoughts on the match-up> Fancy Boys seem to be the complete team doing everything very well, while the Justice seem to have a leaky defense. Marvelous has won most of it's games by outscoring their opponents, but when they face a quality defense don't seem to be able to stop them enough.

Prediction> Fancy Boys aren't impressed with the super powers of the Justice and win (24-17) Austin

ZETA

#8 Stuttgart Blitzkrieg University (7-8-1) @ #1 Steel City Mafia (15-1)

RSM - (36-0) SCM

Highlights> SCM out gained them 4 to 1. Held the ball for 37 minutes and forced a fumble. Stuttgart never seemed to gain any momentum and it was over by halftime.

Thoughts on the match-up> Stuttgart finished with a losing record, but have played tough against some quality teams. The University also has the 3rd ranked passing defesne. SCM is poorly run and doesn't game plan very well. SCM mostly closes their eyes and hopes for a good sim. The Mafia does have the #1 rated defense across the board, but seem weak against the QB kneel.

Prediction> Closer than the first game, but the Mafia school the Blitzkrieg (34-7) SCM

#7 Sterling Bulldogs (8-7-1) @ #2 Port Harcourt Playmakers (14-2)

RSM - (27-14) Playmakers

Highlights> Playmakers put up over 500 total yards on the Bulldogs but couldn't get the ball in the end zone. Port was in control of this game the whole time throwing and running all over Sterling. I bet they wish they would of scored more points to make the score reflect the level of domination.

Thoughts on the match-up> It took Sterling till game 6 to get it's first win, so you could say they are fairly hot coming into the playoffs, but they have a lot of holes in their defense and can't seem to score many points in the games that count. Playmakers are in the top 10 for every offensive and defensive category and don't have many holes to exploit. This will be a very tough game for Sterling to win, almost impossible.

Prediction> Playmakers put the collar on the Bulldogs and walk them outta the playoffs (42-17) Port

#6 My L33tlLe Pwnies (9-7) @ #3 Amsterdam Space Cakes (14-2)

RSM - (37-10) Space Cakes

Highlights> Amsterdam owned the Pwnies in this one. Space cakes controlled the clock and the ground game and only allowed the Pwnies to get 202 total yards on offense. Pwnies also threw a pick 6 and let up a PR for TD.

Thoughts on the match-up> Both these teams are solid at stopping therun game, but Amsterdam can also stop the pass while the Pwnies seem to struggle a little bit in that area. If the Pwnies can stop shooting themselves in the foot and hang around they may be able to steal one from the Cakes, who seem to have trouble putting some teams away. Pwnies had one solid victory against the Goblins, can they get another one?

Prediction> Space Cakes put the Pwnies in the barn and lock the door in a closer game than the first (27-21) Amsterdam

#5 Capetown Great Whites (10-6) @ #4 Greyling Goblins (12-4)

RSM - (37-21) Goblins

Highlights> One of the few games "Camel" Toe didn't score a TD. Both these teams moved the ball of the other defense pretty easily, but the Goblins owned the ground game and Cape Town just couldn't finish their drives. Both teams had a turnover but the one the Whites got was late in the 4th and meant nothing.

Thoughts on the match-up> Cape Town runs a different game plan during the playoffs than they do during the season. They played possum last season on their way to the Ship game. Goblins have one threat and that is their ST's unit. They are the only team with a full STOP unit. They will need to find some offense and defense to make it very far in the playoffs.

Prediction> Great Whites eat "Camel" and the Goblins in an upset (27-24) Cape Town

Congratulations to all teams that made the playoffs! If I picked you to lose, that's probably good cause I didn't do to well last season at this, but those of you I picked to win should be very afraid. Good luck to everyone, yes even you Greyling.

WOW 9th? Let's throw a fucking parade. I bet you got excited when they handed out ribbons to everyone just for participating.

Great write-up 7. Sterling is happy to make it this far in what has turned into a transitional season for us. We had to make a switch at OC do to real life (old OC had their first baby) so I took over 4 games into the season and let's just say that it has been a rough ride being thrown into the role against some of the best teams around.

Hope we can give Port a run for their money. Good luck in the playoffs everyone.

Don't be a douche just to be a douche.....9th out of 32.....not too bad......certainly not void of offense. I see that you quietly glossed over 3rd in the conference though. I would go even further to say, I'm pretty proud of both 9th and 3rd considering we only run about 60% of the time. If we ran 100% I'm sure we would be much higher. If we ran the ball 200 more times like you guys did this season......we might have been first instead

not likely, you averaged 1.5 yards per carry less than us. Even if you had the same number of carries you would have finished with 1500 yards less than us. That is a shiny ribbon you have there, but stop eating the glue stick, it's not really good for you.

and love that sig, that's too funny

Great write up. Despite being one of the least vocal teams on the boards the Pwnies are at least hoping to make the first round somewhat interesting for the Space Cakes, although it's a pretty daunting task. Good luck to everyone in the post season. This has been one of the most competitive leagues I have seen in GLB in a long time, and if not us, I predict at least one big first round upset.

I'll say, SAPL and G'town as the 7 and 8 seeds in our conference is nuts. Generals had a legit shot at the conference championship last season.

If Lampang does win it I have to say it'll have to be one of the most impressive GLB feats ever, back-to-back tourneys and titles. THEY'LL HAVE TO COME THROUGH THE PUNCH BOWL TO DO IT.

I blame whatje and his inability to boost for why we're on the outside looking in.
