Need a setting so that DC can set either OLB or S to have containment responsibility on running plays.

Then if the LB or S reads run (or is set to run focus and is failing vision checks) their movement should be to the outside rather than inside toward the QB or another ball carrier for the first 5 ticks of a play.

Could give option of contain weak, contain strong, or you could just have contain as the only option and then SS/LOLB try to contain strong and the FS, ROLB try to contain weak if set on contain.

u mean give the D some real football logic finally? wow. now thats a thought. ive been SCREAMING this for a long time.

OLBs/DBs job is to naturally give outside containment support to force plays inside.

that dumb inside jab step that OLBs take to align themselves with the ball carrier has been killing defenses for ever.

+1 for letting us select an outside containment focus.

yes I like the sound of that ...can we also add some logic to the MLBs to get out of the way of the CBs trying to catch up to WRs that run through the LoS on a slant route also?

aint that a trip. we have to trick dots to do stuff that they are supposed to do anyway.

I'm not sure how you teach a dot to get width and depth without causing cut backs to be way overpowered.

This was more or less my first thought, even though I agree with the concept of the OP.
