Actually it is a script I wrote to generate rankings that were somewhat meaningful (as they adapt over the games and apply adjustments based on the strength of the opponents and such)

It requires ruby 1.8 (if people want I can upgrade the code to work with ruby 1.9 instead)

Run it by doing (184 represents the league id)

ruby Ranking.rb 184 -u mylogin -p mypass


if it is the first time you are using ruby, you will probably need to do a

gem install json

before running it to install the json parser.

Off (P/R) means ranking in points scored, ranking in passing effectiveness, ranking in rushing effectiveness

Note that I use effectiveness and not yards. This is because a team might pass 100 times a game for 2 yards a pass and I simply do not consider them better then a team that passes 20 times a game for 8 yards a pass.

Also, sacks count against passing and not rushing (so I have to tweak the stats to make those more accurate). So being sacked 4 times for 20 yards will decrease 20 yards from the passing game, give 4 additional pass attempts to the passing game, reduce 4 rushing attempts and increase the rushing yardage by 20. Then the rankings/adjustments/fun magic happens.
