Get rid of World League entirely. All it accomplishes is ruining rivalries, which we are supposedly trying to improve. Counter-productive.

The other bad thing World League does is perpetuate itself. That is, a lot of the elite dots only want to go to World League teams, therefore it is easier for World League teams to recruit them, therefore once a team survives its first season in World League it becomes easier to stay there.

GET RID OF IT. Level the playing field for all Pro teams from a recruiting perspective. Restore the rivalries that make this game and its forums great.

That's fine then... you just blend the Carribean into the South America and Africa into an African/Asia league.

Then those that are left out feel... left out.

It's tough. I like the idea but we can't add 64 teams and if we remove two regional affiliations those regions will feel left out. So where does that leave us. Ideally I'd like to see something like this where people picked new regions:

Western Hemisphere:

North America
South America
Europe

Eastern Hemisphere:

Asia
Africa
Oceania

Maybe that's a good compromise?

Agreed you could just Europe/Asia/Africa in the Eastern Hemisphere.

The elite leagues are really not as fun as people think. They just suck a little less than the mess we had in the recent past.

I would not mold the Pros around this.

Let redo with changes...

I think we should keep the regional affiliations which is what the World League is based on.

Your fine with the promotion/demotions as outlined, but why not keep the naming of leagues instead of going to this terrible naming scheme we have in the Minors (this should have been done better in the first place with all due respect to DD).

Just go to 2 Elite leagues and 8 Competitive, and name them this:

Pro Elite #1 - Western Hemisphere
Pro Elite #2 - Eastern Hemisphere

These leagues feed the Western Hemisphere:

Pro Competitive #1 - USA
Pro Competitive #3 - Canada
Pro Competitive #5 - South American

These leagues feed the Eastern Hemisphere:

Pro Competitive #2 - Europe
Pro Competitive #4 - Asia
Pro Competitive #6 - African

This is much cleaner and makes more sense with the World League

If you start basing promotion on EL instead of record, then performance in Regional Pro doesn't matter, and you don't want that, either. May as well use EL to pick WL while you're at it, which is obviously really undesirable. (At least to me)

Problem is that records are very deceiving...you play in a league with CPU or gutted teams and you win 12+ games...doesn't mean you're any good, your league just sucked.

and then the only teams who advance to WL are conf champs from the two hemispheres?

This makes much more sense. But the naming is a bit off. Like Raiders12 posted "Europre/Asia/Africa" for the Eastern Hemisphere, and North/Central/South America for the Western Hemishere.

And yet, of the teams in WL this season, only 3 have been there longer than 1 season without leaving WL (three more survived their first season in S20 so we'll see how they do in S21).
Those are:
Halifax Whatevername
Chocolate Blaze
Odessa Mojo (Joined WL in S19)

That's a pretty short list, considering your claim.
And of the 16 teams promoting to WL, over half were brand new to WL, so it's not as common as you might think that teams bounce down to Nat Pro and back up to World. Very few teams can be the Garudas.

Yes, WL teams have a recruiting advantage. National Pro teams have a recruiting advantage over Regional Pro, too. It's not a bad thing.

You act like there weren't piles of marketplace ads and threads that said "USAPL only" or "USA/CPL only" back in the pre-WL days, you should know better.

I like this as it makes it more fun to possibly see USA vs Canada instead of Pro Comp #1 vs Pro Comp #2. We are visual people and like NAMES not numbers.
