You turned it around. To accurately represent the NFL, the GLB starting LB should be better at special teams than the STOP if put in the same role. Obviously that is not the case, which is why the STOP specialist is not realistic.

He's on the team because he can do both. If he didn't add depth at another position, they could easily find another athlete to play special teams.

I highly disagree, EJ henderson would be terrible on special teams compared to either of those STOP LB's

have you watched a vikings game this year? They dont play..like at all. They fill out the roster because special teams are so important that you need those specialists for a complete team.

Backup QBs don't usually play either, but that doesn't mean they don't add depth.

I'm sorry and I'm not trying to be rude but I honestly dont see your point. A backup qb is brought in for that purpose alone, to be a backup qb safety net. A person like farwell is not brought in to be a LB in case a couple of guys go down for the year. Hes brought in because he makes a difference on Special teams every game. Hes a STer 1st a LBer 2nd, not the other way around.

keep in mind that the point isn't to overpower them any more, but just give them tools that would be needed for their STOP roles.

aside from people hating on STOPs in general, is there really a problem with giving the ST archetype new trees?

i know i'm gravedigging, but I want to see this implemented or at least definitively shot down.
