it is absolutely impossible for you do this even remotely effectively.

i shudder at the thought that you guys came to the conclusion that this is possible. If you can't fix blocking logic, how the do you anticipate being able to create upwards for 1000 (a ridiculously low figure to begin with) plays to address DC needs at the top levels alone?

I think this is a horrible idea. Even if you have a lot of stock defensive plays, every play will have an exploit and once those are identified, teams will just call offensive plays based on these exploits.

This isn't a fix, it's a cop out. Just fix blocking, or at least try to minimize the exploits. Might not be easy, but there will be fewer exploits with the blocking issues than there will be with stock defensive plays.

Plus you can't have one defensive system for the whole game as things change going from Pee-Wee all the way to WL. What is best for WL might not be the best option for PW or other leagues, and what works for PW might not be the best option for middle to upper leagues.

One of the main things that brings people back to this game season after season is the customization of the defensive side of the ball. Just picking between a half dozen different plays for a specific situation doesn't take much skill, and with out a challenge, highly skilled DC's like myself won't find this game much of a challenge anymore.

Actually, we're going to be addressing that as well.

yep, fewer variables.. GLB becomes a game for the pre teens. Seen this happen every single time I've Beta tested a game. Of course I don't play any of those anymore.

Sorry.I edited my post as catch answered it before I could post the one you quoted

question though: once the DPC is officially removed, will the PBP now list the defense's called play?

I hope, for GLB's sake as a long-term viable game, that this includes making the passing game at least partly resemble realism (more drops, more QB inaccuracy over longer distances, etc.). I know you have mentioned this before, but I would just like to strongly second it.

If we're going to remove the DPC, can we at least get a tool in the Defensive AI that will allow us to bunch and spread and shift LBs based upon that spread/shift? Covering a HB and FB with anything more than a Cover 0 is impossible if you can't get a LB out there fast enough, and IMO the current Defensive AI doesn't allow that. Hence, why I've resorted to the DPC for the only purpose of making the LBs somewhat functional.

I think the best thing would be the change that I was trying to push for in season 6 with regards to the DAI:

Give DCs the ability to set coverage shells (like we can now) and have drop down menus for who the cover (like now).

The most maddening facet of the old DAI was that the LOLB and SS were always on the TE, MLB on the HB, ROLB on the FB, etc etc.

I understand the logic of this statement, but you're going to need to revert a lot of the OL changes you've made to compensate for the coding issues. Chiefly, I'm concerned about blitzing becoming useless, as OL will almost always win the rolls when matched up against linebackers/secondary. The only way to blitz effectively in this game (atm) is to have a guy come completely free. Unless that is fixed, we're going to return to the glory days of 3-man rushes and 8 man zones.

You mentioned a contest to build this database. I suggest a flat reward per play submitted that makes it into the database. Otherwise, the userbase is essentially developing content for free.

Great job GLB!!!! Instead of working until you have a problem fixed, just remove it!!! Hey, here's a suggestion: I'm having trouble stopping rushing QBs in casual, can we not allow any QB to have more than 25 speed to help alleviate this problem? or better yet, in the spirit of just throwing away things instead of fixing them, why don't we just throw away QB rushes all together?

lol, you know it's bad when the admins ragequit.

Yep.. I probably have close to 100 plays and I've deleted more than that because they were for a single game.
