Traditionally, power backs run through and right up the middle and elusive backs run past guys and on the outside.

Outside running isn't as effective for my elusive RB.

He has a great build

Why?

We have the opposite problem on our team. Outside runs work great, but we have a hard time pounding the ball inside with our two combo backs. A lot of your success in the middle is dependant upon how good your linemen are, since they're opening the holes for you. On outside runs, you need WR's with good blocking skills and a HB that can get outside quickly.

See what your WR's blocking is at, and if it's too low ask them to work on it a little bit.

I think elusive backs can run up the middle pretty well if they're good and get a lead block

on the flip side power backs with enough speed can hit the outside corners and break tackles on those weak CB's

elusive backs set your running to POWER cause most of the runs are up the middle. Your going to see a difference. Try a game.

The biggest things I can think of have already been mentioned.

It makes a huge difference on the pitchs to the right there are three guys who normally can make the play defensively and to the left only two.

The main problem is one of those is the CB and if the Wr's blocking isn't high enough he just breaks off his blocker and tackles it for a short loss or gain.

If your WR has good blocking the HB can normally at least get 7 if not more if he's an elusive guy in that situation.

The 2nd situation is the Lineman peels off and the TE runs inside most of the time(god only knows why) and blocks the NT with the C and the RG can't pull in time.

I've read alot on that and people that have tried pumping up the speed and agility for their RG's said they still couldn't pull in time.

The third is the linebacker making a play but most of the time an elusive back should be able to outrun him.

Pitches to the left you really only have to worry about CB's normally and that's where WR blocking pops up once again.

Get your WR's to put some training into blocking and it makes a big difference.

Do you have it set on elusive or combo?

Always set on elusive. I just got the strength up because my OC said it would be best. I dont see why he wont go around a single tackle. My speed was 8 lower at the last game before I lvld up, so the agility was closer. The vision should still be good enough to see ahead of him at 30 + so I dont know

My guy has a similar problem. On elusive, he gets to the line on outside runs then tries to dance around the CB instead of turning upfield. On combo, he runs straight at the CB.

My power back has no problem breaking out decent runs to the outside. He almost never takes it to the house on those runs, but that's not what's important.

My elusive back had over 1700 yds last season, can't get out of his own way this season....why? I think its because the defenses are better...and my Oline is not as good comparatively to the D lines they are going against.

CBs are starting to increase vision and strength with their speeds in the 50s/60s, so a lot of the elusive backs with 20~25 STR are getting taken down a lot easier.

And high visions on the CBs means juke moves don't work as well.

Because everyone loads up on speed, making running to the outside next to impossible. Wish there were misdirection plays, play action, draws, and screens in this game. Then you could take advantage of the low vision/confidence, high atheletic builds. BTW ahnonamis has your answer.
