The WR probably has some serious jumping/catch chance type bonuses. You might try adding some more jumping, picking up some swat ball skills, some pass deflection chance type eq/abilities etc.

Catch and I have been talking about this in general, though; the WR's probably have a bit too much of an advantage on some of the big 3rd/4th down situations. We might notch up defender abilities in those situations to help match. Requires some testing first to see how it works.

One of my next projects will be working on intermediate tactics - intermediate leagues might be part of the project, not for sure though on that.

Right now, my biggest problem with the game is the cartoonish aspect I'm seeing at the highest levels.

That's EEPro.

The point is, this is supposed to be a simulation of football, and what happened on that play isn't physically possible. He ripped off four spins within a space of no more than seven yards, with world-class tacklers all around him. He eluded seven tacklers on that play and let me assure you, they are all fine tacklers. I have been DCing for like 12 seasons now and this is the best defense group I have ever got my hands on. And those players, those specific players involved in that play, are all top-notch dots.

I don't care if you're talking about Barry Sanders or whoever you want to name, nobody could even come close to doing what that dot did on that play under those circumstances. I don't think it would be possible with NOBODY trying to tackle you, much less a whole gaggle of top-notch killers like that. It's beyond ridiculous. It seriously undermines the credibility of the game.

I understand that the offensive skill players can have great builds and make great plays, burn a couple guys who have a good shot at them. But that play? C'mon.

I just want to see the game get back to the point where good recruiting and sound tactics mean something. It's too much like a crap shoot any more. I understand there needs to be a certain amount of luck involved, but it's gotten out of hand at the highest levels, such that it's become extremely frustrating to be a DC any more.

Catch told me he has "always thought that there should be a "delay" requirement before a player can activate a SA a second time." I agree with him. So is this going to happen?

Well, thats somewhat true. But with the current options in the defensive team tactics in Casual, if you set a 100% long pass D....you don't get that called by the Ai, you don't even get it called 25% of the time.

The formations are so random and all over the map based on field position and downs and yards to first that it is actually the MOST inaccurate gameplan that can be set in Basic Ai.

Trust me, in 6 seasons i've played nearly 350 games of Casual and have tried NEAR every combination, and on Defence, it is a HUGE unknown tactic over-all as we don't get to see the formations used on passing defence short, medium, long or any run inside/outside defence.

Does Lower the Shoulder provide a flat break tackle bonus when it doesn't activate? What about Power Through or Stiff Arm? In other words, are they only 'have to fire' SAs with no 'always on' component?

How does the Play Focus work on D lineman?

Example: What should the D lineman focus on? Pass or run? Does archetypes/builds have something to do with it?

I know we keep saying this, but it really is getting close. The developers are actually waiting on me to finish some API functionality they need now. Good news is that they are also working on a facebook integration as well, while waiting for me!

Also, this API I am working on includes the ability to get stats and game scores in an easy to parse format, so in the end any 3rd party developers (I'm looking at you, greasemonkey guys) could use it to do some neat stuff.

Has there been any thought given to starting non-boost leagues?

I know that there are several underground league's that do this but i feel it would be better if there was a official non boost league.

A follow up question. The AAA league I am in has been pretty aggressive in scheduling ranked scrimmages against other leagues and has done pretty well over all. We did that, in part, to help with the Strength of Schedule calculations in hope that we would help each other get promoted.

It was fun either way, but will you be considering ranked scrimmages when the time comes?

I discussed that with Bort today - it's something we'll look at but no exact time table on implementation.
