A perennial contender, this team is stacked from top to bottom. For the second straight year they’ve opened their season with a win over Diablo, this season’s edition being an impressive 30 point drubbing. I fully expect them to make a deep run in the playoffs, and they should be considered the top title contender in the West as of this moment.

Another perennial contender, Athens is reloaded and better than any point in their long history. Their always good running game has added a difficult to stop corps of deep threat receivers.

A newcomer, this team has shown great character by racing out to a 3 and 1 record through 4 weeks. They also played America’s Fallen Heroes, a solid Eastern team, tough in their first game of the season. They should drop at least 2 more games this season, but could hold tough and snag the 3rd seed with a 12-4 record.

As always, the Fuggers lead the league in passing, and have done a nice job so far this season. A tough matchup looms between them and Chicago, who is looking at a must-win game. If the Fuggers win against Chicago, they could be sitting at 11-1 when they meet Athens in Week 13.

1. Wild Thangs (4 – 0 – 0)
Like Athens, this team has been good for as long as anyone can remember. The Wild Thangs look like they’ve finally put together a team that can go all the way this season. They haven’t been challenged yet and had an impressive scrimmage against a WL team earlier in the season. They play Diablo and Detroit in the next 5 games, which should give us the clearest picture of who will have homefield advantage between those 3 great teams. I consider them the top title contender overall at this moment.

Perhaps they are one dimensional or perhaps they’re playing a game of possum, but stopping the run against them is paramount.
