Folks,

RL has interceded and I have to drive to Atlanta tonight. I was hoping to do a play-by-play as close to real time as I could (i.e., 9pm eastern) but I'm afraid I won't be able to tonight. I'll have a game write-up either later tonight or early tomorrow for y'all.

Good Game Tex Pirates. This game had me more worried then almost every single game my team has played in the past 4 seasons!

Here was a pre-game hype story about our D.DOTS versus your Pirates, as a Pirate writing in a journal...... it may be a day late but its a fun read!

Confessions of a Pirate.

Dear Diablo Dots,

At first, we the mates of Texoma Bay thought nothing of it.
It was just a bunch of little "murmurs" & drums, way way off in the distance.
It could have been anything, so we continued to travel to the land
of Diablo on our quest of league gold upon our pirate ship, far far
away from our little island paradise of "Pirate's Hideout".

aye...our record was so far, perfect. And our victories...a feast I tell you.
So we ate and we danced and we played, as we drew closer to
your stadium; but the "murmurs" sounded closer now. And all around us they were.
Our music and revelry went silent as we looked in each other's eyes
and could smell the fear of the other man standing next to us.

We drew our swords and spread out over the ship. But the drums
just kept BEATING, louder and louder and louder.
How dare they...? And just who do they really think they are?
do they not know of us? Of our reputation in the league?
Do they not recognize our mighty team called "Texoma Bay?"

yes...ours is a sordid tale.

I will tell you...of robbing and ravaging and pillaging many many western
conference teams. Bridgetown... Macon... Athens...
We didn't care... Wherever our search for league gold took us, there were no rules.
Our trail of blood & conquest was far and wide, all kinds of teams,
all kinds of places, we were never scared. And we never backed down.

And then came this day.

Now we stood there frozen, as the drums now POUNDING--RINGING
through our ears and the screaming of the tens of thousands of Diablo fans,
shaking us, way down to the essence of our very bones.
We stood around in a circle, ready to defend our precious undefeated season.
Ready to preserve our right, to rob the seas again some day;
and then they descended....
From all sides I tell you, I've not seen anything like it. Like a swarm of bees
they covered us with "the greatness that is Diablo." And we fell.
I hate to admit it... but we fell into a dark dream.

And when we awoke we were surrounded by flames.Trapped in the "Dungeon
of the Diablo Destiny" (DDD) Sweat just streaming out of every pore and the drums
and rampaging call of the Dots fans intense now.
As they danced and jumped and cheered all around us. Their yells and chants & voices,
mingling together in a demonic tongue that, like a deadly chill,
cut way deep into us.

I'm told they threw our undefeated record into the bloody water,
of that they had no use. If only we had been so lucky, but...hey...
things could be worse... couldn't they?
I still watch them from time to time, as their "drums of greatness" beat even more louder
and they capture even more gold as they dance and dine upon our bones.
and I will remember this day.
When I and all my mates were the main course of "the greatness that is Diablo."

And now we hold out our hands as we float away in the night,
a mere apparition of our former selves. Still looking for gold upon the high seas;
though I don't remember why. So as we take an ill wind back across the face of the
waters from whence we came. I a pirate, will moan and whisper into the night, to warn all future
visitors to this land of Diablo of their inevitable fate. But will they pay my warnings any heed? I think not.
Who wants to listen to the ghost of a man who has succumbed to the greatest casual team on earth?

So hear this confession of a pirate and beware; for I repent in dust & ashes....

Pirates don't repent nor surrender
they gather and plot
Pirates don't cry or whine
they know their lot

They climb the ropes and plan the battle
pirates know the test of their mettle
They live and learn testing the enemy
pirates know the enemy's time is at hand

All buccaneers arise for the time is nigh
don't fret nor weep
All buccaneers know the enemy sighs
know the enemy is an aside

Creep and crawl too the mast with thee
know that my heart stabs at thee
Arise and stand tall for vengeance is mine
know this..."thus sayeth the Lord for your enemies end is nigh...."
