Team talent has nothing to do with anything anymore. Its all based on game results.

Would you guys like it better split by conference?

Yeah I'm having less and less trust in some of these scripts for use in the preseason/early season (regular season they all seem to act differently).

I put a BEAT down on the Dublin Fighting Irish Pee Wees 94-7 http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=1112981 and in the previous game they only beat a CPU team 41-14 and they are:

So far I'm leaning towards the Graph Rankings as possibly some of the more accurate for Preseason Rankings. I'm thinking right now a 12 rank for us is pretty accurate.

Gongadan, is that really how you think your script should have things ranked?

I haven't bought EQ, spent SP, or did tactics for basically all of my players so that's why Dublin isn't as good right now

Not really. But preseason is a joke anyway, because half the teams are saving SPs and another third or more are either using basic AI or intentionally using bad/misleading AI to try to get a jump on other teams in the regular season. Having said that, I'm sure I could try to improve the script's performance based on the games, and it's definitely way better than it was as it was originally written by garrettfoster. And I'm not wholly certain why it still thinks you're worse than DFIPW. But I do have one idea:

The preseason portion of my script (and garrett's) is broken right now. When it was originally written, it was impossible to schedule friendlies during the preseason. So handling preseason games was simple; you tell the script (in the code) how many preseason games there are this season, and it grabs (up to) that many scrimmages from each team and throws them in the ranking mix.

Now that you can schedule friendlies in the preseason, it doesn't work. When chiefy ran the script, you had 1W and 2L, because it's counting your loss to LSMM. It doesn't know who LSMM is because they're not in the conference, but it's trying to make as much sense of it as it can.

To be honest, I'm not sure how to fix it, other than scrapping preseason rankings altogether. I don't know how to tell the difference between an automatic preseason scrim and one you schedule yourself. I could exclude scrims with teams not in the league, but that wouldn't prevent people from scheduling a couple of preseason scrims against league opponents that would get mixed up with the "official" preseason scrims.

I'm open to ideas.

Not sure why you wouldn't buy your EQ. What are you saving up for?

As for SPs, unless your goal is to win in the pee-wee division I would spend my SPs unless it fit my build strategy. Hell I have level 13 guys that are still holding on to as many as 35 SPs right now.

I agree with the above.

Just to be clear, I am not concerned with the rankings now. I'm trying to get the process down and adding additional info if we want, like splitting up conferences or if we want to do something else with the rankings.

I think we all agree that preseason is a joke. Like gongadan said, there's teams using the default AI and not custom plays (like myself). I really like what you're doing here and I hope you keep it up.

So in all reality, your script was trying to analyze my 40+ Scrimmages last season? That seems kind of like a bad idea. There were one or two of those games where I set them up expecting to lose as I was testing things, and then other things like the Air Attack Tourney. OR, does it just count the scrimmages for "preseason" stats?

Well, I will tell you guys this much. My team is going to be one of the toughest to beat. I only say that cause none of them have a future. I just had a bunch of flex points so my brother-in-law and I built up a roster and we are not going to be holding on to any SPs when the season starts. Plus we will have enough BTs to get that boost 6x in the regular season and we will be using them.

Just a friendly heads up for you all.

Nah, it only counts the first four scrimmages, and only does that if you enable preseason (which I never do after the season starts). I never noticed it last season, because they added that functionality toward the end of the preseason and none of the leagues I was tracking did much scrimmaging early. But this season it really jumped out at me because so many teams have a different number of preseason games than the others.

So YMMV on the Gongadan/garrettfoster script until the season starts.

In answer to chiefy's question, I really like the idea of compiling data from multiple scripts and posting it, along with the up and down tracking. Sort of wish I'd kept the Tinies in Silver 3 now just so I could see what they'd look like.

Oh yeah, and apparently the Griffin script really thinks the West is stronger than the East this season. Lowest in the West: All-Time Seattle Seahawk Greats at #16. Highest in the East: Space Jam Monstars at #17. Has it even started ranking yet, chiefy, or is it just listing them in order until the season starts? I've never used Griff's script.
