Its Rinse and Repeat for Las Vegas
Tallahassee, FL – Questions arose during the off season on whether or not the Las Vegas Super Bears would be as strong, if not stronger, than the team that made it to the playoffs two years in a row. An early departure from the playoffs last year had many people wondering if potential free agency would cost the team another shot at the playoffs. But, loyalty to the team, city, and fans won out and the team held together.
Despite the one-sided victory yesterday, the Las Vegas Super Bears (1-0) have some soul searching to do. In their 43-0 win over the Jakarta Typhoons (0-1), defense was the name of the game. The Super Bears held the Typhoons to under 100 yards offensively and hurried starting quarterback Lofa Hasselbeck 8 time while forcing him into throwing 3 interceptions. The Typhoons managed to cross midfield only 4 times all game, but were unable to convert as they were prevented from ever reaching even field goal range.
Offensively, the Super Bears put together several good series, but work is needed as they managed to score on short field situations (each drive starting close to mid field if not closer). The Super Bears offense seemed to fizzle out as they neared the red zone on drives in which they started at or near their own 20 yard line.
You can be sure that despite the victory the Super Bears will be practicing hard this week to get return to the form which everyone knows they are capable of.
