Well, SAS finally did it. With an historic thrashing of the STARS, they moved solidly into first place overall. Tallahasee's near tripling of their opponent was apparently less impressive to the computer, because they didn't move up over Ohio Rage.

At this point, it's probably worthwhile to take a brief look at the playoff picture.

In the West, we've got five locks so far:
SAS (14-0)
OR (13-1)
HHF (11-2-1)
STARS (10-3-1)
DPWF (10-4)

AAW (9-5) and the Headbangers (9-5) are likely to qualify for the playoffs. The Headbangers, in particular, are very likely to qualify with a gimme game next week and then a final matchup against AAW. AAW has two tough games remaining, so week 16 could be very interesting in the West. Also still alive and hoping for a slot are:
Silkroad (8-6 with a tough remaining schedule against AAW and the Jackets)
Penguin Academy (8-6 with a gimme game and a tough one against the Jackets)
Rockwall Jackets (7-7, with an uphill battle ahead--facing Penguin and Silkroad)

Because of the way the schedules worked out, all of these teams are in control of their own destiny; if the Jackets win out, they'll hold the tiebreakers against both Silkroad and Penguin, which will give them the coveted 8th slot against SAS in the first round.

In the East, the picture is a little more settled. Seven teams have locks:
Tallahassee (14-0)
Darkus Blacks (12-2)
Montgomery (12-2)
Midland (12-2)
Oahu (11-3)
Saskatoon (9-5)
Gondwana (9-5)

Still in the hunt are Lone Star and the Care Beers. In all likelihood, both teams will win in week 15 and then lose in week 16, which will give Lone Star the opportunity to get beat down by Tallahassee in the first round of the playoffs. Both Saskatoon and Gondwana hold tiebreakers over Lone Star, so these last two are definitely playing for the #8 slot.

Good luck in the next couple of games, Dirt Leaguers!

What's gonna be interesting in the East is if we end up with a 3 way tie for first seed, with Tallahassee, Darkus, and Midland, or Tallahassee, Darkus, and Montgomery all sitting at 14-2.
Neither Darkus nor Midland will be a pushover.........I'm about to head to WalMart to get another supersized bottle of TUMS before I even start scouting Darkus......

Beat Midland please! We need to move up all we can! I can't believe that our conference is so stratified that we're 11-3 and have the 5th seed

Doesn't matter much. 13-3 record as a 5th seed or 4th seed still means we have the beat the same teams on the way to a trophy. I don't think home field advantage really means anything in this game

True, but Montgomery should beat Midland as well. That would put Midland at 12-4. If Tallahassee can beat Darkus as well, both we and Darkus are 13-3 (assuming neither of us lose the other games, if we do we don't deserve it), and I believe 1st tiebreaker is head to head. That puts us at #3 behind Tallahassee and Montgomery. Better 3 than 5

4 is actually better then 5 as well because it is a home game which does have meaning in terms of finance. Long term legitimacy requires being able to pay the talented folks
