Forum > Position Talk > FB Club > FB Blocking for an OFFENSIVE FB?
Link

We've had some lively discussion here regarding the importance of "Offensive" FBs minimizing the portions of the build that don't enhance their offensive potential. But at the higher levels of the game, what is the MINIMUM level of the attribute "Blocking" that one would expect from even a "Offensive" FB?

38ish.

That should be 90% auto level gains. By the time that you get to the point where you have nothing good to train, blocking will be over 33 and have terrible training "value". Odds are, your team will be better off with you continuing to ignore it and only block after the catch.

For a purely offensive FB, just as pottsman says.

For a offensive/balanced build, I wouldn't take it past the first cap (48.5).

For a balanced build, I wouldn't take it past the second cap (60).

Then again, I like the offensive/balanced build for his ability to play out of the HB2 slot... makes for a great max protect package and is truly epic on QB runs (a blocking FB and offensive/balance FB leading the way is nasty). Not quite as good as a pure power HB when it comes to pounding the rock, but he adds a couple more elements that defenses have to account for.

FBs are capable of massive STR. while they don't post the long threat of a HB due to speed limitations, they can be quite fearsome in short yardage situations. i'd say a FB makes a better short yardage back than a power HB, but the FB lacks the big play potential of the HB.

just like the rest of GLB, its all about the builds really.

As in...

an offensive/balanced build FB vs a pure power-running build HB. Not a pure power running build FB vs a pure power-running build HB.
