Well Compton is not a good team either so i think it will hurt us still. Wraith Worshipers are a good team though just sucks there is only a couple other good teams in that conference

Kind makes it not fun when you boost to just get an upper hand.. If teams want a little closer games, I say, don't boost.. But if teams like to just run over everyone and say the competition sucks, well more power to you..

I don't mind whether or not teams boost. They'll run up the score on weaker teams, but good non-boosted teams can beat a boosted team at least 50% of the time - a lot more frequently if the gameplanning is very good.
Unfortunately, because of league-wide recruiting problems, there are a lot of all CPU rosters out there. Hopefully, those of you who advance to a Silver League will find a little more competition once you get there.

Yeah, recruiting in the Coppers is tough. I think we had about 200 offers rejected before we managed to fill out our team.

Makes it hard to put together a really good team that first season. On the other hand, the level of competition is such that you can advance to the Silvers without having the greatest first season team on earth, and I suspect that recruiting in the Silvers will be much easier.

I'm pretty sure the original plan was to have only two teams from each Copper league advance to the Silvers. Is that what actually happened last season? Or were there so many dropped teams that a lot of Copper teams advanced to the Silvers?

I hope to see all of our top 8 or so teams in the Silver leagues next year.

Being a first year team owner can be tough, I'm sure after year 1 it's much easier if you had a successful program. I never had intentions of owning a pee wee team after this year, I was thinking of owning a capped 13 team and growing together. I'm having so much fun in pee wee though I might just own one again, regardless of what league we end up in.

What ends up happening is that any peewee team that renews for a second season gets bumped up to Silver. And from there, the top Silver team in each League gets promoted to Gold, while the bottom Gold teams get demoted to Silver. Normally you'd think that there'd be an overflow in Silver, but so many teams sell, go CPU, or just don't renew that it's not yet an issue.

Well, I was having so much fun last week, I bought two more seasons for my team. I may still buy a level 13 capped team, though.

I am demoting my casual team for next season and then my entire pee wee team will move up. Should be fun considering it is a mixture of slow builds and boosters... pretty much everyone boosts

Fear the reaper. Cowbell is for the weak.

As it turns out, there was a slight error in the Week 4 rankings--I was over-weighing the strength of schedule. So AWW should have been a little higher probably. I didn't bother redoing week 4, I just cut straight to week 5.

I don't think More Cowbell fell so much as Memorial and Barney's jumped up due to big wins. More Cowbell should have run up More Touchdowns on the Reagan Rattlers if they wanted More Love from the ratings program.

Week 5 rankings:

1 Raccoon City S.T.A.R.S
2 Appalachian Mountianeers
3 Atlantis Wraith Worshipers
4 Memorial Crusaders
5 Barney's Bullet
6 Need More Cowbell
7 toronto tigers
8 Purple Plainsmen
9 End Times Patriot Saints
10 Horn Lake Predators
11 Olympus Legends
12 GLB Wrecking Crew
13 *pow*
14 Pee Wee Drops the Soap
15 Fort Lauderdale Kings
16 New Orleans Patriots
17 Sodom Devils
18 TEAM CLUTCH
19 Reagan Rattlers
20 lol raiders
21 Toledo Dragons
22 Viva La Revolucion
23 Alaska Huskies
24 Multiple Scorgasms
25 Bartow Yellow Jackets
26 Weird Science
27 Sydney Wildfire
28 Koigahama Cupids
29 Illinois Bling
30 Montgomery Breakers
31 Las Vegas Knights
32 compton vikings

Holy crud, so we Need More Blowouts? Man, you guys are vicious in the ranking committee. Problem is, Appalachian is the only higher ranked team we play, so we'll have to make it a shutout, and then score 50...

I like the rankings.... but the only problem i am having is 5 games into the season and looking at the rest they don't look comparable. That is not a put down im just saying i think the weak conference is going to mess some things up. We still have not gave up a point... Not in pre season and not in the regular season

Yeah, Jdog81, your record is really impressive thus far. Once you start getting into the meat of the schedule, if you can keep anything like the record you've got going now, your rating will skyrocket.

gjwhite66, you don't have to blow out a great team, you just have to beat them. But still you've nailed one problem with doing it by PF - PA. I considered writing a different rating system like this:
When you win, you get +1 point. You get another +1 point for every team that your most recent victim has ever beaten.
When you lose, you get -1 point. You get another -1 point for every team that the team who beat you was beaten by.

So basically, beating a team without any wins is only worth 1 point. Beating an undefeated team in week 8 is worth 8 points (1 + 7 for the teams they've beaten).

The problem with that design is that a team like Atlantis Wraith Worshipers would fall even further in the ratings up to this point, because even though they've totally dominated every team they've faced, the unfortunate truth is that those teams are not very good. Their week 1 and 5 opponents have still never won a game, their week 2, 3 and 4 opponents have won only 1 each. So AWW would have 8.

The STARS, on the other hand, have faced higher quality opponents. Their week 1 opponent is otherwise undefeated, weeks 4 and 5 have 3 wins each, week 3 has 2 wins, and week 2 has 1 win. So the STARS would have 18 points under that rating system. I REALLY don't think the STARS are more than twice as good as the Wraith Worshipers.

Compare that to More Cowbell. Also undefeated, and their opponents have: 3, 3, 4, 1, 3 wins, so they'd have 19 points under that system. So definitely comparable to the STARS, which seems pretty accurate. The one game where they met was very competitive, and I'm told Cowbell has improved further since then.

So the only one of those three that's out of whack is AWW. It's the same problem the rankings guys have in college football: undefeated teams look great, but if they haven't played anybody, it's really hard to tell how good they actually are.

But not to worry Jdog, your opponents are about to get a lot better. The Purple Plainsmen are a very good team that has had a tough schedule so far, and while the Huskies and the Scorgasms aren't very good, you'll be up against the STARS in no time. And you'll finish up the season with the Crusaders and Barney's Bullet, probably the #3 and #4 teams in the conference.

No worries Gongadan. I'm sure everyone greatly appreciates that you're even doing this. It'll never be a perfect system, but it does give something to talk about (I may have to steal your point system thing, though, lol).
That's what stinks though about being in a Copper League, one conference will always be vastly underwhelming compared to another. Sometimes you really won't know who's really good until the finals. I do wish that they'd mix up the conference games a little, but I understand why they don't. Maybe eventually we'll have divisions on top of just different conferences...

Well, we just came off a scrimmage loss to the Mountaineers, and have the STARS in two games. On top of that, the last game of the season for us is against the Atlantis Wraith Worshipers. So the bottom half of our season actually has some competition in it (including a game against the Crusaders). I think we are all learning the tricks of the trade for this season, and will be pulling out different surprises for one another as the season goes along. Any of the undefeated teams that don't innovate from here on will wind up getting beat.
