How old are you, like 13? Jeez, half of those guys aren't even in the top 5 all-time in their positions -- some aren't even top 25. Roy Williams??? Seriously??? Fitzgerald after one great year? Come to grips with reality and learn about the history of the NFL before you post some crap like that. Try a few names like Steve Largent, Chis Carter, and Lance Alworth.

Payton was great, but I'm not even sure if he was even the best Chicago Bears running back of all time. You may want to look up Gale Sayers for a bit of research. You'll find that he had a higher yards/attempt than Payton. Few have ever been as graceful as him on the field.

I'm only going to go one more and then I'm done wasting my time. Did you seriously put Brett Favre as the best QB all time? LOL -- seriously, I burst into laughter when I read that. C'mon. He's not even the best of the modern generations. Super Bowl Joe holds that distinction. IMO, he's the greatest QB ever. That spot is about more than just stats (see Dan Marino). It's about how the rest of the team follows you to pay dirt. Montana was the best ever at that. I think if you did some research, you'd find that Unitas was pretty darn good as well. All the Dallas folks would tell you that Staubach was one of the greats too, and I can't argue with it. LOL at Favre. That's just hilarious.

Lots of lists out there when I googled for a top all time pro football list, found this one to be a good read. There is one very big mistake at the end which I laughed at.

Are you going for all time or currently?

If it's all time, you're missing a few:

Jim Brown
Deon Sanders-(Ty Law?)
Tony Gonzalez
Reggie White-(Are we putting D line on the list)
Derrick Thomas

Running back and QB are impossible to settle on. Sanders, Smith, even Faulk are notable, along with all the really old guys, and QBs, I guess Farve owns all the records, but I'd take Brady's carreer over his, and Brady has a long way to go to get into Montana/Elway territory.

And I don't think Roy Williams has ever been a top 5 reciever in his career.

And who was the guy for the Niners who cut off his finger to get back in the game? Wasn't he an SS?

Steve Largent is interesting, he was the most productive receiver of the old NFL, held the career TD record for a short time. As soon as he retired, The age of Jerry Rice began and the WR position was never the same after that.

Jerry Rice, best player of all time?

Rice is the best WR bar none -- no one will argue that. As Fu said, you'll never be able to settle on top RB of all time. Payton was great, don't get me wrong. I personally just think there are many who were better like Sayers. Check the stats. Sayers career was cut short by injury. As I said earlier, he had a high yards per carry average than Payton. Sanders flashed greatness at times (often), but he also had a lot of losses while carrying the ball. You could argue that Emmit is at the top of the pile as well. For my money, I'll take Sayers and Jim Brown.

As for QB, it's not even close. Montana, Elway, and Unitas are all head and shoulders above Favre. Peyton and Brady are too, and they still have a lot left in them. Don't get me wrong, Favre is good. That consecutive start streak he has is very impressive. The problem is that he hasn't been good in a long, long time. The reason the Jets had a good year last year is because they ran the ball. Favre had nothing to do with it. In fact, he led to their downfall at the end of the season. He needs to retire and play golf or sell cars.

Largent is in the top WR discussion period. Just listen to what the top WR's say in interviews about him. That man has more respect paid to him than probably any other WR besides Rice. We haven't even discussed Newsome yet either. Take him and Tony Gonzalez, and you've covered the best TE's ever to play.

Oh, and Ronnie Lott may have been the most feared hitter ever in the NFL. He was the guy that cut off the top of his finger during a game.

Fu, if you want to go defensive player, well LT (the original) is at the top of the list. Ask Joe Theisman his opinion on LT. He revolutionized the LB position. Reggie White is definitely on the list too. That guy was a beast.

Ronnie Lot! thank you, he was a CB? and LT is "of course" material.

The NFL is the most difficult sport to compare across eras, especially at the QB and WR positions. The introduction of the west coast offense and the restriction of DBs has made it almost a different game. Before Montana and Marino, throwing 30-40 times a game was unheard of, and I doubt guys like Bob Hayes ever had to catch 8+ balls a game. Then you start getting into time-machine debates like "how would Johnny Unitas perform in today's NFL" which is impossible to resolve considering all the differences in the game he played and the time he played it. That being said, Rothlisberger would make an amazing "back in the day" QB, and Drew Breese would be the water boy's assistant.

after seeing Favre, i couldn't even read the rest of the list......any all-time NFL list that includes Brett Favre is NOT worth reading.....

theres about 20-30 QBs that have played in the NFL that are better than Brett "the diva" Favre
