There have been rumors circulating that the Ball Hawk VA causes issues with WRs such as
disrupting route running, disrupts pass leading by QB, causes receiver to stop in his tracks,
disrupts run, etc. We decided to run a quick test to determine if there was an obvious issue.

I ran two quick pass heavy tests.

Bullet passes with quick pass release to open guys (i.e. shorter QB to receiver flight time)
http://test.goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=901

Lofty passes with longer routes (i.e. longer QB to receiver flight time)
http://test.goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=902

Team 20 (Rochester Flyers) has WRs and TEs with Ball Hawk VAs of 15. As you can see from these 2
games, the QB throws have a decent distrabution of various throws with no apparent negative impact to
receivers with the Ball hawk skill. The quality of passes thrown varies but no evidence of any wide
spread problem is present with the VA for receivers. If you watch closely you can see receivers gain
a burst of speed and often times the ball is delivered to the correct location.

What kind of builds do these CBs have?

Because these WRs in the tests, are usually running right by them. For whatever reason, that doesn't hardly ever happen on the live server, with decently built CBs.

I mean, what high level CB does these things:

http://test.goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=902&pbp_id=210661

what is the LOLB doing here? Running away from the pass
http://test.goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=902&pbp_id=210697

I know these are just a couple, but I saw things like that, for most of the game. That secondary must have some atrocious builds, because I never see anything like that in a competitive GLB league.

These tests were run using Basic Defensive AI. I would not read to much into what the CBs are doing. The purpose of the test was to gauge what happens to the receivers when Ball Hawk is used.

I think it matters, because if the WR didn't have any separation, the dot might act differently.

QFT

Just saying, if this is a test, these aren't definitive answers.

Yeah, the builds definitely matter.

Things like this should be tested, with Pro Level WRs and CBs. I don't see why it wouldn't.

Bukowski,

Our team is in USA AAA2, and so far I have not seen the problem with CBs leaving coverage because of ball hawk. Each of our CBs has 15 ball hawk, and they covered at least decently for the first game.

Ignore out preseason games as they were against gutted teams.

Yeah, that wasn't me asking that question

But yeah, I haven't had that problem either.

I'm pretty sure it's build related, and not Ball Hawk related.

I've had my CB do this a few times, too, it's just that he has been lucky enough to usually (though not always) make the INT when he jumps a few yards in front of the WR like that.

I agree with Unicorn 99 can't be build related my CB has been the top of AAA EE league for years very good build, just review the stats.

Although I have been on aggressive and close or med for the past 5 seasons, this is the first game I've ever seen anything like this. The only thing i changed in the VA's is switching from Track Star to Ball Hawk due to reduction in the physical VA's.

At the start of this game I had 15-Ball Hawk, 15 Clutch and 7 in Red Zone Freak. All these examples are in the same game and by the same DB

I think we can caulk this loss up to a sim error.... http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=2549665&page=1

Apparently Bort was to have made a change to fix it last night but it either didn't work or it has not taken effect for todays games, dunno. "- Make aggressive defenders more in control of their acceleration when jumping forward for the INT/PD attempt. Should help those guys with super speed from way over jumping like they have been."
http://goallineblitz.com/changelog.html

Hope this helps! Not sure if it does though, really just restated the problem..
